Best of luck, I did a few postings alongside the Navy and they are a good bunch. Very well organised and have each others back, as well as looking out for me (which was good of them!)
Do you know what you will be doing/where you will be posted?
  • kris kamara was in the navy.... unbelvable.

On a more serious note, thank you for joining up. It's a job that doesn't appeal to me in the slightest and I'm incredibly grateful that there are others out there who are willing and able to do the job. No matter how disgusted we might sometimes be at the reasons our politicians come up with to throw our armed forces into harms way, I hope we never forget that the guys at the sharp end have volunteered to put themselves in danger for the good of others. Support the troops, even if you can't stand the war!

Very good. If you keep in well with your offerers, you will have a lot of opportunities when you leave. My boss is ex Navy and has had some great jobs in his life all through is contacts.

Main advice, join the union. They are cutting RN jobs like there's no tomorrow. Literally.

My nephew is a Royal Marine and he loves it. When posted in Afghan he was very lucky, the vehicle he was travelling in was hit by a rocket and the driver next to him lost part of his leg he held off the Taliban and administered first aid until help arrived. Very proud auntie!!
Being in the forces has transformed him into a 21 year old that anyone would be proud of.

    Good luck CafcCrazy, keep safe!
