Wolves owner enters dressing room to criticise the players

some chairmen may think they know better than their own manager
Is that so? I never heard that before..and I don't know that I like it. On the other hand I'd probably agree that we wouldn't be in the 3rd Division now if he'd taken over at that time.
and for the record Curbs, whose offer of help was turned down by murray, said McCarthy was his no.1 choice to take over from him
We'd probably be still in the Prem but arguing about the defensive unambitious football. And our away support would still be ****

That is true, Curbs did want McCarthy but, to be fair to Murray, at the time of Curbs leaving McCarthy was far from hot property.

He had only just left Sunderland where he had been relegated in pretty dismal fashion and would have been seen - at the time - as a very unspectacular choice indeed.

Well if our owners came into the dressing room to give our players a bollocking, at least we would be spared the 'I know who owns Charlton' thread as everyone would know0
-
my point ormiston is that murray chose to back his own judgement over that of curbishley in who would be best placed to find his successor0

Fair enough sport, I am not disputing that!

Well there was one owner who sacked a manager and installed himself as boss - big, big Charlton link in this story - anyone any idea who I am talking about? When I win the euromillions and buy a football club, I won't interfere - I know my limitations!
If I ever did buy Charlton then I would definitely not be able to resist registering myself as a player and insisting that the manager gave me a 5 minute cameo in an end of season game.
I wonder if an owner/chairman has ever done this?0 -
@ oakster
For some reason I'm thinking Mark Hulyer and I have no idea why , did he turn up at a non league club and do it ???
Or am I just going wibble0 -

Oohaah - the club was Carlisle, the owner then manager was Michael Knighton - the sacked boss was Mervyn Day....we all know where he went next!

If the Chairman want to manage a club, as I previously posted, let them just see how hard it is to motivate players in the top league. Player's need clear motivation, and confidence to play the game to benefit the team. Constantly bollocking a player, really does not work, or trying to be there best mate.
You are going to make mistakes, hopefully you learn from them.
Well if you sponsor my team Saga, I can arrange this?.......When I win the euromillions and buy a football club, I won't interfere - I know my limitations!

Of course you will have the tricky time of choosing wether it is be your brewing division, your IT division, or your music division, I will even chuck in a free logo design for the shirts?0 -

Ken, is there something wrong with your computer/keyboard? Only it seems to put a question mark at the end of every sentence. ?0

I can remember knighton at carlisle but the charlton connection threw me , didn't realise mervyn was the sacked man
Did Knighton own man united and sold em really cheap or didn't ever get to own em
I can picture him kicking a ball about at old trafford towards the stretford end0 -

There are more questions than answers , and unlike some of the people on here I do not claim to know the answers.0 -

He tried to buy them for what now seems a ridiculously low price - something like £10m from memory but he couldn't get funding and had to withdraw.
