Surely if we were to go up and Huddersfield were to miss out on promotion we could look at signing him? Like brighton did last year with Craig Mckail-Smith from Peterborough when they went up. Maybe a big bid would be sufficient and they can take Hayes in p/e for another season in League One?

  • Rhodes will move on in the summer for at least 3 million and no way will Charlton be spending that much on a single player. Forget it.

CP will have a significant amount to spend. Doubt we could afford Rhodes and can't, as yet, offer PL football.

Who would of thought Brighton would sign Mckail-Smith though? £3.25m and he was only linked with big championship or lower prem clubs.

Can't see a prem club like Everton spending £5m on a player that hasn't proven he can score in the Championship? The gap between league 1 and premiership is huge as we found out against Fulham this year but I see no reason at all why we couldn't sign him

  • Only way charlton have a chance of signing him is if your playing on football manager. More chance of getting cantona out of retirement than charlton signing jordan rhodes. FACT

I'd love to see him at the valley. It'll be (to state the obvious) a case of IF Powell fancies him in his team schemes, and IF we can afford the fee and salary.

Simon Cox top scorer 09 - went to west brom and done nothing.
Jason Scotland top scorer 08 - west to wigan and done nothing.
Billy Sharp top scorer in 07 - went to sheff utd and done nothing.

Surely you can't bank on Rhodes being a massive hit in the prem. I totally admit he is a good player but I really can't see why he'd fail to be attracted by joining Charlton.

too expensive. cant see them letting him go for anything under 3mil. would be a great deal for anyone who could afford him because i believe he would do it in the championship. not sure about the prem just yet.

agreed, the leap from first division and championship to premier is a quantum one .. but, for example, P'boro spent a million on Barnett from Crawley, a very good player, looks a nautural goalscorer, but has little track record .. goal scorers cost a fortune and will get more expensive .. 3 million for us should be gettable considering the success this season and the potential rewards on offer in the higher divisions

I was surprised we pulled off signing BWP when we did, but we would never get Jordan Rhodes. Not with all the media hype surrounding him at the moment. Everton is just the sort of club that would be likely to buy him.

Keep in mind that Rhodes is only in his very early twenties and Craig Mackail Smith is in his late twenties and was joining a team with a new stadium, new start etc.
  • I think he could end up at West Ham.

to be fair to billy sharp he'll probably be playing in the prem next season
  • It's a tough one to call. A £4m plus transfer and the appropriate four or five year contract could well end up costing in excess of £10m. If he is not good enough (and there is no way to know for sure) you wouldn't be able to give him away, as his wages would be way too much for any League One club and it is possible (all be it unlikely) that League One is his level.

Jermaine Beckford was outstanding for Leeds (72 goals in 126 appearances) and he has only scored 4 goals in 26 appearances for Leicester this season after failing to get close at Everton - 8 goals in 34.

Thus I think Huddersfield will try to get maximum money for him or keep him, but I can see him going to a Championship club for much less than £4m this summer.
  • Forget Jordan Rhodes, how about Gary Rhodes? He could probably carve right through the opposition.

Maybe one of the prem sides coming down, bolton or west brom e.t.c then?

Still think he'd be worth a try atleast!
