A question I have wanted to ask for years but as I read on another thread there was a chance the Lib could close to fans, I thought I'd ask now.
Are they open to anyone on match days (no membership needed, fee to get in etc) and how are they different, apart from I assume the political angle?! I always read people mentioning "the Lib" on here but never the Conservative Club. Always been fascinated as from the way I approach the stadium I have passed these two places hundreds of times. Please educate me!!

pre-match at the liberal, u pay a quid and ure in for cheap drinks and a good atmosphere, it's nothing fancy but it's a good place!0

I always drink in the Lib after the game. No need to be a member or anything.
Easy to get a beer and generally a table to sit down.
It was absolutely dead after around 8.30 last night. There was literally one man left in the bar.0

ditto at the con, apart from you pay 2quid. Twenty gets you in for the season, plus no away fans allowed.0

I used to go in the conservative club before every game and sometimes afterwards always been good and friendly atmosphere, have big screen etc, quite cheap drinks. Requires a membership though, I think it is about £20 per annum, where it does require a membership you do get a lot of regulars and get to know people and recognise people. However as I had been away for a while for the Stevenage game I tried out the lib club as people on here were talking about it, seemed friendly enough but felt pretty strange, didn't recognise anyone.0

I've been in the Lib 3 times and no ones has ever asked me to pay.0

Yep no charge for women or kids to get in the lib0
-
On reflection I suppose there is a better profit margin on Wine, V&T or Sherry so that would cover the free entry for females..............I'll get my coat.0

I'm not sure about the away fan situation at the liberal? I remember at the Huddersfield match away fans were banned but not Sheffield UTD?

Much prefer the Con Club though. Although do miss the Horse & Groom!0

Pubs need a tax break or they will all close or be restaurants. Sad, enjoy a beer in apub while you can. One day you will be telling your kids about them and they won't quite grasp it. Try telling them about milk floats!0

Con Club is a bit more of a sports crowd if you know what I mean. 0 0

used to hate milk floats. Have to agree; if they had delivered a decent ale on a daily basis may have still been with us.

Most pubs were and are fucking horrible places for the majority of people. If they were that great, they'd still be around. Basic supply and demand - if you want to keep them around, patronise them so they don't disappear. I find it a bit rich to suggest that they should, in effect, be subsidised by the taxpayer.0

I was always led to believe the con club had more old faces and 'youth' in it.
Was it the con club where the Southampton lads got lairy?
When there is a decision to be made, I always think 'What would Henry do?'0

wouldnt fancy the con club myself after a few stories ive been told from other lifers and treatment of there partners, prob would go to the rose as seems a good bunch down there everytime ive gone there with mog.0
