This has been bugging me over the last few days ...

Who the hell sieves their rice?

    I tend to dump it out of the saucepan into a sieve simply to get any remaining water out, but I don't actually SIEVE it.

    I didn't get the colander adverts - surely it'd all just fall through the holes!

    the boil in the bag rice is the way forward. Always then dump the bag in the colander and run the kettle over it.

    No...cook loose rice in a saucepan this way:

    One cup of rice per person, add a pinch of salt and olive oil (stops it sticking), cover with water, turn down as low as possible and leave to cook slowly for ten minutes. Stir a couple of times and add extra water if necessary and of course don't let it boil dry.

    Makes the best rice, no need for boil in the bag rice.
