She didn't say no, she said I don't remember if I said yes. That is what the rape law says and it is somthing all of us guys out for a "piss up and a bunk up" as Vallygary puts it on the Butlins thread need to be very careful about.

I must say the majority of Sheff Utd fans have been fairly decent about all of this (of course there are plenty of exceptions), by no means supportive of Evans (though perhaps understandably a bit baffled about one being guilty and the other not). Not convinced that Owlstalk's audience would have reacted in the same way.0

It says even more about the lack of morals of the man that he seemed to carry on playing football unaffected by the crime he committed. 15 years minimum he should have recieved and no place in football when he returns.0

When I read the 'facts' of this case I was horrified .I'm glad the jury did not lose it's bottle . No man should ever treat a woman in the way Evans did .
It does not affect us now in football terms because we are up ,but I now hope the massives pip United at the post and they also miss out in the play offs for supporting Evans in the way they have,0 -

From paper reports they've barely seperated Mcdonald and Evans in the case, apart from Mcdonald leaving through the front lobby and asking the manager to watch out for her. Very poor reporting of the case, as usual by piss poor journalists.0

To convict one and not the other implies she WAS in a fit state to consent (else they would BOTH have had to have been guilty). However it is possible to have had no memory of the evening but to have been capable of consenting (or not consenting) at the time.
However her lack of memory meant she could provide no recollection of the events at the hotel so by definition, the jury must have reached their conclusion on Evans based upon other evidence heard.
Having followed the case, I find this an odd outcome (and a troubling one).

I wonder if more facts will come out, as the evidence as reported wasn't conclusive, and was very much his word against hers, with little apparent difference in the actions between the 2 men, as both had sex with her, yet 1 got off.

From his point of view, it wasn't rape as she voluntarily had sex with him. Clearly the jury disagreed, but it's not as it was 100% clear cut, e.g. if he dragged her off the streets into a bush.
