Going to post before heading out to celebrate. Again. We are the champions my friends! Cracking game today and Wycombe don't deserve to be where they are. Beavons was a right handful that was just about marshalled by Morro. Hamer pulled off a couple of great saves along with their keeper. We should have won much easier than the score line suggests, BWP should have had about 5 goals to his name and Kermorgants free kick was a peach. Kermo my man of the match just ahead of Pritchard. A great day to be a Charlton fan and superb scenes after the final whistle. Well done Chris 'Mr Charlton' Powell and everyone who played their part in this seasons champion winning season. Now lets get p****d!

On my second beer already. Just wanted to say how fantastic it was to be there today. The celebrations afterwards will live long in my memory. Well done everyone on the squad, the management staff, the backroom staff, and anyone else I've missed out.

Voted for the player of the year today, but thinking about it why can't we just honour the whole squad.

Complacency was creeping in and was a bit too scrappy, but it doesn't matter how the points are won as long as they are. Can sit back and relax now and not care what happens from now

Not the best performance of the season but just about good enough. We robbed that second half but Wycombe had no right to still be in it at half time so it evened out really. Probably the best performance I've seen from Pritch. His passing was fantastic and he won everything in the middle. Wiggy's passing was atrocious which was a shame and BWP's finishing wasn't up to much. Stephens had a decent enough game overall but he's developed a tendency to turn back the second he gets the ball and look for the pass backwards. And by a tendency I mean he does it every bloody time. I was surprised when he hit his shot on goal instead of swivelling and giving it back to Morrison. Other than that there's not much to say about the game, which is not one that will live long in the memory for what went on on the pitch. Great day

Wycombe battled very well and never gave up. BWP and Danny Haynes missed 4 one on ones between them so that is why the score was close. It was like deju Vu of Kevin Lisbie! Kermy superb throughout.
I think we all enjoyed the pitch invasion fan giving the stewards the run around at the celebrations.

We looked at times like a side that had been on the sauce a fair bit in the last week. Still had enough chances though to have made it a lot clearer victory.

All irelevent though, great atmosphere for the last 20 and at the end. Did have a little chuckle at all the old crinklies in the East leaving on 87 mins. How you can go through the last few years and not want to see the celebrations at the end makes me chuckle.

Well done everyone. Feels great to celebrate something in The Valley

Mine must have been one of the strangest days, as hinted in a seperate thread my mother in law has been in intensive care all week, the last couple of days on a ventilator, son George and I both had one eye on the game today but we realised that our place was with Marg and my wife Ali who has been understandably struggling with everything.

At twenty to three from no where she regained conciousness and started talking to us all, Ali said go to the game, we arrived in time to see the equaliser, the rest is history and we are now back at the hospital and her condition in amazing considering! Marg wont be out of hospital for a while yet, and when she does get home her non hodgekins disease will still be there but all in all an amazing day. So proud of my team and my family tonight

Great news for you and your family, hope her recovery continues.

Fantastic atmosphere and scenes at the end, my 6 year old was doing his nut, as was his old man and grandma.

The moment the MK Dons result was announced ("........CHAMPIONS!!!!!") was brilliant. Everyone went absolutely mental.

What's great is that we have sealed promotion and the title at the first possible chances.

Preston away is going to be a party and a lot of fun I think!

I thought it was one of our better games & although this may sound a bit churlish, if we had strikers who could score when 1-on-1 we would be Champions !!!! ;) But being serious, next season could be a big one for BWP - can he step up a level or will we need to recruit another striker in the summer ???

I thought the end was a bit daft & contrived. We still have one more home game to do a lap of honour so what was that all about ?

end to end 1st half, we should have been out of sight before they scored...BWP could have had a 1st half hat-trick.

once we scored 2nd half & everyone knew the Sheff U score..the atmosphere was upped and the last 15 mins were fantastic.

    Pritchard my MOM.

Fair play to the few Wycombe fans who stayed on afterwards to clap our players.

    CHAMPIONS.

Got congratulated by a few Wycombe fans on the train home which I thought was pretty magnanimous considering we didn't do them any favours in their relegation scrap. Impressed with them today
  • On the way to the ground a Wycombe fan went up to the flag sellers and asked if they had any relegation flags. LOL!!!

Exciting, open game. We should have had it sewn up at half time. I thought for a bit that the players weren't going to acknowledge the crowd after it was over. Loved it when they gave Chrissie Powell the bumps. Drinks ahoy.

    Posting without reading.

We started well and a free kick of outstanding quality by Yann gave us the lead. Wycombe came to win and always offered a threat and we paid the price for missed chances by BWP just before half time when Wycombe scored an equaliser that had been "coming" as we seemed to relax towards the end of the half.

Second half was tense at times as Wycombe threatened but when we did attack we looked dangerous and eventually Dale Stephens finished off a cross by Haynes (I think from the Covered End).

I'm not going to single out individuals on a team day. The celebrations outweigh the match. Lovely touch to see "the old" Richard Murray and "the new" Michael Slater and Tony Jiminez on the pitch with SCP.

Did Solly leave the pitch earlier than the others? I wasn't aware of him celebrating but then he is only 5' 3" and might have been hidden:-)

Great day and good that both the home and away fans have had something to celebrate.

Everyone is not posting because there celebrating!!!
  • 2 posts on here had me frowning...

We're not ALL wrinklies in the East, AFKA , you nawty boy !

And Golfie.." What was all that about " ????? Wasn't it obvious that the players didn't want to leave the pitch after WINNING THE LEAGUE ...not merely getting 3 points in a meaningless game. What would we have felt if they'd just walked off at the end ? They really wanted to share the culmination of a fantastic season with us, the supporters who've backed them all the way and , at times, been the 12th "man" .

Yes, they're going to do it again in 2 weeks' time , holding the trophy aloft and some with their young 'uns to make it extra special for them.

But today was all about sheer, unadulterated joy at winning it at home, in front of the faithful . Think most of us there today would have felt short changed if we weren't able to "join in " the celebrations.

Anyway...the game itself. Not a classic but apart from a couple of stuttering performances, a well deserved win against a side battling for their lives. Yann the Magnificent lived up to his name, Pritch was everywhere ( in a positive manner) , Hamer was at his very best and the most reliable player I've seen in a red shirt since Richard Rufus, was his usual reliable self...

But my MOM was The Man Himself, Sir Chris Powell . His spirit has been imbued into every one of those players to have donned the shirt this season . They each take a small part of him onto the pitch every time they step out ; his work ethic, his passion, his professionalism and his bravery. He has made them into a winning team and as we do, I'm sure they all love him to bits . We should all count ourselves lucky to have this man at the helm of our ship . Long may it last !

    Onwards !
