.....exactly how bad was it?!

Can't believe Sunderland was called off, surely the first ever postponement due to the weather in August???

    It was bad.
    At 4pm in SE London it was as dark as teatime in November and the volume of rain that fell for a whole hour was quite remarkable. I guess it was worse in Sunderland.

    It certainly had an effect on the game but the pitch held up very well.

    I was in Lerwick (Shetlands) on wednesday and it was freezing and the rain was torrential.

    Reminded me of a FA Cup game against Forest i think, 15 or so years ago when i got wet sitting in about row Z of the East. That would have been January though...

    Not sure I have ever been at a match before and been watching the lightening bolts!

    I was concerned that it could've been abandoned, but as has been said, the pitch held up well and it did ease off.

    My mates are at Creamfields and are coming home early as its been closed. Tents completely submerged under water.
