.....exactly how bad was it?!

Can't believe Sunderland was called off, surely the first ever postponement due to the weather in August???

    It was bad.
    At 4pm in SE London it was as dark as teatime in November and the volume of rain that fell for a whole hour was quite remarkable. I guess it was worse in Sunderland.

    It certainly had an effect on the game but the pitch held up very well.

    I was in Lerwick (Shetlands) on wednesday and it was freezing and the rain was torrential.

    Reminded me of a FA Cup game against Forest i think, 15 or so years ago when i got wet sitting in about row Z of the East. That would have been January though...

    Not sure I have ever been at a match before and been watching the lightening bolts!

    I was concerned that it could've been abandoned, but as has been said, the pitch held up well and it did ease off.

    My mates are at Creamfields and are coming home early as its been closed. Tents completely submerged under water.

    Never bothered me when I was younger. I now dehydrate just sitting in a garden chair in the fxxkkng shade! You young 'uns on here may sure you look after your old folk!

    Never gonna complain about the UK weather again after stopping in Death Valley on the way to LA last week.

    Car was reading 123F.

    Or a nice 51c.

    The air was so hot it was like sticking your head into the oven. It literally hurt your skin.

    Drove down to Brighton to see a client. Air con in the car made it much more bearable. Can't remember 1976 being this warm.

    LOL, one of my in-laws had a summer job there, it was part of a wildlife project. He said they'd work from 430 am to about 11 am, after that it was beyond endurance. To give that some context, he grew up in central California, when I stayed with his folks it was around 40C every day which was more than enough for me, but routine for him.

    Summer of 76 I don't think it was that hot just many many days of sun. First day if I recall was 22nd June the day I started my apprenticeship....

    On a train back from Cannon Street and it was awful. At some point you'd hope they can put aircon on trains and the underground other cities manage it
