Better than the Millwall programmes we were flogging the other week for some reason.0

A nice plate to put the cucumber sandwiches on when you invite us all round to celebrate winning the championship in the near future.
Well done Carl. Nice spot.0 -
Although things must be tough if they are flogging off the family silver.0

I can't help but think that he expected it to go for more than £560

So presented to the Club by the Supporters Club to mark our 2,500th league game and yet I'm the only one disgusted that this has ended up being sold for profit by some oil on eBay. How did this ever get out of the possession of the Club?0

Who said it was for profit? It made under 60 quid. Don't suppose there was a lot of profit in it.LargeAddick said:So presented to the Club by the Supporters Club to mark our 2,500th league game and yet I'm the only one disgusted that this has ended up being sold for profit by some oil on eBay. Were you also disgusted that Mendonca sold his stuff? Or that 1947 Cup Winners medals come up for sale?0 -
I take LargeAddick's point to an extent. The club should be cherishing these sorts of items.
There were lots of stories when we moved out of The Valley in 85 about the offices being full of programmes etc. My guess is that things that were not deemed 'worth' taking to Selhurst were not and some of these have fallen into the hands of private collectors one way or another.
Having picked the item up last night I can assure everyone this was not sold by its owner as a profit making exercise (he was very sad to see it go) and it certainly has not been bought to make a profit.
It is a great piece and will feel very much at home in the memorabilia room.
I must get round to putting some pictures up of some of the more interesting bits I have.0 -
Well done .. I'm surprised it went so unnoticed by other Addicks Addicts and for such a good price. Enjoy it0
-
As a matter of interest .. how much would you have been prepared to pay ?0

I believe as a Charlton piece of memorabilia it is worth more than I paid for it. I was prepared to pay a little bit more for it at this time (end of month syndrome :-( ). But if it had gone higher and I had the money to hand at the time I would have gone over £100 I think.0

Thanks for you honesty CL .. you've got a bargain. I'm not a great sentimentalist or souvenir collector but I would be proud to own such a nice piece of nostalgia0
-
Well done Carl, I was bidding as well and it looks like you beat me by a £1.00, but I'm glad it went to a fellow supporter rather than one of those rip-off memorabilia merchants. I too was surprised there wasn't more interest but just occasionally things slip under the radar and don't attract the attention you'd imagine they'd get. Perhaps CL could consider presenting the next 'landmark' trophy. Enjoy.Carl Leaburn said:I believe as a Charlton piece of memorabilia it is worth more than I paid for it. A friend is selling some 1947 FA Cup Final memorabilia on eBay and asked me if I'd give it a plug here as he doesn't have an account: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1543415660370
