If gervais wernt in it I'd love it but he is and that has detracted how good I first thought it was
That's the reason I would not watch the first series, but gave it a go for the second series and am loving. Heavily scripted and set up, but still good.

When it works it is brilliant - the problem is that it can be a bit too staged -like the dwarf bit in China when he was arguing with Warwick Davies on the phone. The Ricky Gervais show was sometimes inspired because there is enough truth in Pilkinton's observations. Anybody who likes Idiot abroad and hasn't seen it - get the DVDs btw -you'll love it.
