Sex museum isn't as great as it sounds.
My one memory is having a robotic tramp blow his load at super soaker pace out of nowhere against the glass i was standing next to. Proper sh*t me up.0 -
If you're off to enjoy the coffeeshops then fret not. You will have NO trouble being served as the 'weed pass' idea has all but died. Have fun!0

This, a colleague of mine was out there at the weekend to see Swedish house mafia and said he didn’t have any problems0 -
Amsterdam is a dive these days.
Been loads used to love it but cheap airlines make it easy for pondlife to get over there for a bit of the old green & an excuse to act like cnuts. (Brits included)
Lovely country though, Holland.0 -
Jarman, the trash rarely gets more than a few streets from central station, if you get past Dam Square and stay out of anywhere that advertises premiership football, it's a beautiful city.0
-
Go to Dampkring, buy the 'waterworks' hash.0
-
Also Den Haarg is so much nicer, less trashy and way better 'erb.0
-
Sounds good :-D girlfriend is only 17 so she will struggle to get in coffeeshops so I am going to buy my herb and smoke it in quiet areas :-)0

This. It has Europes largest casino (or something along the lines of). Lovely country.Stu of Yangzhou said:Also Den Haarg is so much nicer, less trashy and way better 'erb.

Was there last month. Renting an apartment for the weekend is the way to go. Definitely watch out for the bikes and the trams. Especially if intoxicated!
Went to a gig in Rotterdam, was alright there but wouldn't go out of my way to go all that way again.
Make sure you go to Burger Bar burger-bar.nl/ the best place when you have the munchies.0 -

Talking of munchies, no matter how hungry you get DO NOT eat at any of the FEBO outlets. I wouldn't even call it food.0

It's all about the Wok to Walk.0

Maoz falafels for me. Free salad bar!0

This. I was out there with my missus 6 weeks ago and still one of my favourite cities. As ~Morts says, close to central station is your typical high streets and all clamouring to make a quick euro out of the tourists, but a 10 minute walk changes all that. Plenty of museums and stuff if that's your thing.Mortimerician said:Jarman, the trash rarely gets more than a few streets from central station, if you get past Dam Square and stay out of anywhere that advertises premiership football, it's a beautiful city.

Don't agree, my missus said I can treat myself to one next year...guess she'll want to watch though.falconwood_1 said:Taking the missus is a schoolboy error.

Aiming to see both sides of the city really the high side and the cultural side :-) she can't even legally sit in the coffeeshops so was planning to buy my herb and then smoke in a quiet bit off vondel park or the hotel.tangoflash said:

Any rough places to avoid near RLD?0 -
I do agree.Mortimerician said:Jarman, the trash rarely gets more than a few streets from central station, if you get past Dam Square and stay out of anywhere that advertises premiership football, it's a beautiful city.
But my post is based on the usual haunts for 1st time visitors.
Going towards Leidseplein from the RLD you can slowly see the city come into it's own as you go.0 -
If you're talking munchies, Then I'd suggest the Turkish pizza place directly outside the main entrance of Centraal station. It's a kebab/burrito type of thing but it's blooming lovely.0
-
@WillmoreTheRed - regards the RLD. If you go down there during the day you'll be safe as houses. At night, just keep your wits about you like you would any other place. Obviously the nature of the area means it attracts some dubious characters but don't act like a twat, ignore the street dealers and you'll be fine. Make sure you keep your missus close tho.
If it's not too cold then Vondelpark is a great place to enjoy a smoke. Be discreet with street smoking, a bench along a quiet canal is always a good option.0
