Take suitable refreshments and a radio with you, plus if available a suitable companion with whom you can find something interesting to do on the Bosses desk.

Demand the time off on religious grounds then complain that people not eating turkey offends you.

As uncle Albert would say "During the war...
I was in Iraq for xmas, the locals all celebrated the birth of jesus by
downing Jack Daniels and playing with AK47's.
It certainly made for an interesting day.

Back on Civvy street I worked xmas day for the last two years.
It was fantastic. Had the morning with my family and at about
1pm when my 2 year old son was getting hyperactive and over excited
I could hand him to grandma and go to work, where I got the best parking
space, played office cricket for 5 hours on double time and snuck off
    home 3 hours early

I'm intrigued to know what needs updating on xmas day? And is it not something you can do from home?

I'm not working Xmas day, but I'm in at 5am on Boxing Day. Luckily I've managed to get out at 10 so I can get to Charlton still.

Remember having just this conversation 4 years ago 24 hour media organisation.......
If you are just updating/ a CMS system: which is based on templates they need to embrace technology, and have the ability to be able to do this. I assume you are loading images and text with a style sheet. Companies seem to want to sign up to 'hot desking' then, have people working in offices 9-5. Of course the fact that the rest of the world is on another time frame seem's not to have dawned on most so called managers?.

I dont blame her. Night time in a bar, I would too. The amount of morons you have to serve and the amount the pubs rake in.
