Posting the same bullshit twice doesn't ameliorate its bullshitness. As I said when you posted this tripe last year, what good will it do you living on a fam when, if what you say comes to pass, the government will steal it from you anyway, long before it gets to the state you're predicting?eaststandpeter said:Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but here goes..........Buy farmland or a smallholding, self sufficiency in food, solar panels with battery backup , water borehole, poly tunnels, four large chest freezers for storing last years crop, back up generator, wood burning stove, become part of a local network of like minded people, and invest in hard money.I saw this 15 years ago coming and I've been able to help others who listened. The whole system is going down and they are not telling you the truth. The cities will be war zones with little or no police protection. So if you can relocate now to as remote a place you can and prepare do so .Also this is a wide world collapse so where ever you go it will be bad. Yeah, odd that someone who made such a fortune in gold should bother resurfacing time and again on an internet forum.0

I was interested to hear on the radio that, globally, spending on government activities as a percentage of GDP is rising quite sharply. i.e. being governed is costing us more year on year. We now have career politicians whose only concern is to get elected, that's their job. They have little or no other experience to bring to the table. They're clones being extruded from the public schools, clothing themselves in the flag of democracy, the Union Jack and purple ties. The whole sorry Eton mess continues on its well oiled tracks, chucking out scapegoats to keep us diverted and amused and ensuring that TV, radio and 'retail experiences' continue to feed us mindless pap. I'm not even blaming them setting up a system to feather their own nests, we've allowed it to happen. The question is, what do we intend to do about it?queensland_addick said:Governments tell people what they want to hear in order to get elected. They are not then held to account when they break their promises. Why do they lie? because they'd never get elected if they told the truth and promised to enforce tough economic policies that would benefit their nations over the long term. People these days want everything, and they want it now. We are suffering from greed and population growth. There are not enough jobs to go around and there is not enough money to go around, not when the super rich keep it in their own circles.

I thought the government promised us savings on this area?
seriously though isn't the rate of increase, decreasing?

I'll wait for you to have your freezers stocked, then one day while you've got your hands full of stuff I'll creep up behind you and lump you one with your wood burning stock. Because it ain't much better here to be honest, okay I live in a better house on more land and in the lovely countryside, but unless you're retired or just don't need to work, it's getting very low on the ground (I've not priced a job since the begining on December!). In the UK I'd get on me bike and look for work, but it's a bit more tricky in France because you have to be registered in the job that you're pricing for. I'm registered for pest control and kitchen fitting so that is the only fields I can work in. If the ob come on a job and I'm doing a re-wire for example, I'm nicked!Baldybonce said:

Oh yeah, I love it too, but some expats move here for all the wrong reasons. To "get away from the UK" being one of them.0 -

It's sensationalist, manipulative tripe, chaps.0 -

1 in 6 "students" from overseas are bogus. Cracking down on that shouldnt mean we hammer legit people from coming in-----disjointed planning and poor legals make the situation impossible to "police".
Bogus asylum seakers and students have hundreds of lawyers and other vested interest pressure groups out there defending and deflecting ----until some knobhead calls for an amnesty. If you doubt that one of the few growth areas is in "imigration advice" take a walk down deptford High St and count the number of lawyers etc specialising in this area.

Hah, hah, I've now read it all. They actually bang on about how good they were to advise investors to get out of Europe in 2009. So, I choose a fund at random - Fidelity European - and looked at the fund prices. In the spring of 2009, the fund's price was around £7.75 a unit. That was the low point. It is now at £13.75. So, if you had taken the contrary view and invested then rather than taken the magazine's advice, you'd have been sitting on a 75% profit right now. Not a bad return over 4 years - and shockingly bad advice from the rag!
Hey, if they were really any good, surely they'd be making so much money by putting their tips into action that they wouldn't have any time left to write a magazine....0 -

If you are emigrating imminently purely based upon a fear that civilization in the Uk is going to end how will you feel if it doesn't in your lifetime and you have given up things like friends, Charlton etc. I'd say the odds are stacked heavier against such a scenario than for it (mainly cos the UK population is generally to apathetic and comfortable to riot whilst X Factor is on)
If you are waiting for "signs" of the end of civilization here then what will they be? For example would the hoodrat riots the other summer have caused you to bail?
Or if you are waiting til it really looks like it is going tits up in an Escape from New York- esque meltdown then how are you going to travel outside the Uk as the planes/ ferries are unlikely to be operating?

I was told that if everyone in the country contributed £1,500 of their own money to the Gov coffers now then this would solve the debt problem. I can't help but think that this doesn't sound like a huge problem for us if that were true.0
-
Problem is a large % of people in this country live on benefits, overdrafts or other debts so don't in fact have their "own money" it is all borrowed and being paid back plus interest (excluding benefit payments of course).Jayajosh said:I was told that if everyone in the country contributed £1,500 of their own money to the Gov coffers now then this would solve the debt problem. If it were that simple the government could surely tax everyone for one year the extra equivalent to £1,500 per person.
eg an average wage earner a one off extra £100 over the year, a top earning footballer an extra £10k and billionaires an extra hundred thousand or so to make the numbers work without anyone really feeling it.

Peter does seem very keen though on investments in gold and has even posted on a thread devoted to the sadly departed, multi sheded trollmeister0 -
That's encouraging - but £1,500 is a bigger percentage of my total annual income than, shall we say, £1,500 of David Cameron's.Jayajosh said:I was told that if everyone in the country contributed £1,500 of their own money to the Gov coffers now then this would solve the debt problem. Ameliorate is a great word. I'm having that with me in the event of an armageddon type situation.
Has anyone taken out a subscription to find out what the answer to all of the impending doom is? (spoiler: it's going to be precious metals).0 -
The financial system has collapsed and they are only keeping it going by printing digital money not even printed on the toilet paper its printed on.We are seeing currency wars already underway. The collapse will be sudden so an exit strategy will be tricky but thats up to the individual. Time line somewhere probably between 2014 and 2017. Just watch the Gold price for an early warning. This collapse is world wide so finding somewhere relatively safe is difficult.I wish you well. Real assets will be the only arbiter of value. I think remote rural locations in the UK are the safest bet if you are staying put. All my neighbours have a couple of shotguns and are the type of people you would want around in a crisis so thats another important consideration rather than be in a city with millions of headless chickens fighting for a loaf of bread.. This is my last comment on this subject.RodneyCharltonTrotta said:
