    Agree.

How anyone can think CP is anything but the right man to take this club forward in a footballing context, is off their rocker.

Forthed, I did have my doubts but what he lacks in experience he makes up for with passion and love for the club.

    Fifthed.

Anyone that thinks otherwise either had unrealistic expectations for this season or secretly wants to be proven right after writing him off.

I think it all depends on how well he does this season regarding league position. If he keeps us up comfortably then hes earnt that new contract and hes the man to take us forward but if we just scrape it then we need someone else to take us forward. But personally I think Chris Powells is finding that winning formula so come the end of the season I think we will be sitting comfortably in the table and he will get his new contract.

how can someone get banned for making an innocuous comment like this?? He only made one comment? Poor Almond...

i suppose we are working on the assumption that CP would accept a new contract..theres nothing i have seen, particularly on this site, that would give him confidence in his employers

however i definitely want him to sign up ....you cant put a price on stability

Not another eejit that opens a new account every time they forget their password?

Anyway back on topic. Hopefully he has.
  • I guess it hasn't been announced publicly that he has, I think it would send out a ( good) message to supporters and players current and prospective.

If you go by what that nutter on Into The Valley says then apparently it has already been decided!

Think a new board would be mental to sack such a popular manager though, both with the players and fans.

Or we go into admin in the close season and start off the next minus 10 points, he might want away himself?

I'd sign him up soon, the foxes may be watching. As has been said.
  • In my view he needs to be offered a three year deal right now. He has been hampered this season with lack of resources and looks likely to achieve mid table in the Championship with effectively a division one team. He is adored by the fans and it would seem the players as well. Give him the wherewithal to improve this squad by 25% and I think we can move forward into serious challengers for the playoffs. Having things hanging in the balance is no use to anyone. Sign him up now.

  • Has to be signed up asap for the reasons above. On this budget and with this squad who could've done better? He's not perfect but he's ours.

If he got slotted at the end of the season there would be riots.

  • End of the season. A good sit down and a chat with the powers that be in may.

Positive understanding between mánager and board that is then relayed to us paying supporters Telling us exactly whats going on now and in the near future.

This would give me a feel good feeling even if its financially grim.

No manager is good for a 10 year contract.
  • Sign him up on a yr extension right now and then see how we all go

He has to be signed up now, cause I suspect eyes are being cast from Leicester in his direction, and he'll get serious backing there.

He deserves what Leicester have to offer, providing its the same backing Pearson has received .... Not the fannying around he had to deal with from our powers that be last summer when he didn't know whether he was gonna be given funds or not throughout the close season

Problem is if they have a serious wedge then they will come for him anyway, if he is their target. That said, CP would see it as a sign of faith if he were offered a contract and may turn away other offers.

Of course, if TJ is about to sell then he may not wish to encumber the new owners with a contracted manager who for subjective reasons they may wish to remove from office.

I wouldn't underestimate Chris's loyalty to Charlton. If he accepted an offer from elsewhere it would not be a financial choice, in my opinion, either personal or in terms of the resources available to him.

Be nice then if he could be shown the same loyalty in return...
