I'm gutted that a shit club and actually a shit team can have a day in the sun. The prize on offer is a place in Europe. When are we likely to have that at stake in a one off game ? Jealous ? Yeah a little bit.
Although we usually sing from the same hymn book, SHG , I'm afraid I'm going to disagree with you on this one.
A place in Europe ? And get beaten every time in front of a shed load of glory hunters ? Extra games to tire a mediocre squad of players ? No thanks.
For my money, I'd rather my team concentrated on building slowly but surely in the Championship with the aim of becoming a Premiership side with solid foundations both on & off the pitch. A decent fan base of supporters who stick with the Club through thick & thin - not just" up for the cups".
And don't forget that the Lions could end up in Division One as well as in Europe ...
All true Fanny but having a cup run and a day out doesn't have to mean you can't build steadily with the aim of becoming a premiership club or having solid foundations on and off the pitch. I'm absolutely certain that's what John Berylson and Kenny Jackett are trying to achieve. All I'm suggesting is that pokey clubs can get to Wembley and Europe with a bit of luck and effort. In the cups we seem not to have either.
Europe !!!!!!!!! they have played in Europe i am jealous of that.
I have to admit I quite enjoyed it when Millwall were in Europe. Not the fact that they were in Europe, but seeing Kevin Muscat getting kicked up in the air by burly Eastern European defenders was quite fun.

I would love to watch Charlton in a meaningful European game more than anything but will forever have to live with a pre-season game or hope they bring the Anglo-Italian cup back.
They will be in Europe for the 2nd time in 10 years if they win tomorrow. Too right i'm jealous!!!
A lad further up the thread sums up modern Wembley rather well for me. Not jealous of them being there as I have been there plenty of times for England games and really don't like the place - there is no prestige about the place anymore. Nothing will beat that play-off final in 98 at the real Wembley.Nothing! Not even a FA Cup final at the new ground as far as i'm concerned.
But them being in Europe really really f*****g grates on me.
Good luck to the scamps I say. Muggy little club who only register in the world through their c*nt fans but they can have their day in the Sun can't they?

In truth, today simply couldn't have been any better. The whole three hour spell was perfect. Who would have thought that we would come out of the afternoon the way we did compared to them? To THAT extent...

I was there with my wife, daughter, dad, cousin (first ever away game together) a few other lifers oh and father in law over from Sweden for first Addicks game, who is mad on English football. We all witnessed the biggest away win in our clubs history. Jealous of Millwall. Not even jealous of Man Utd in my house. In CP we all trust. Love the Addicks.

I'm slightly less jealous of Charlton Kerry and son. I'm not sure the hospitality stuff makes up for having to restrain yourself during that kind of result.

Whatever cup runs/finals they might have, they'll always be a little club that earns zero respect from their contempories.
Charlton may not "do" cups, but will always be a bigger Club that is respected by the majority.
Jealous ?
Not on your nelly !
