Falconwood mentioned that he hates Charlton being called South London!!!!

I just wanted to ask where people think we are then?

I miss the days of singing "Maybe its because I'm a londoner ..."

    South EAST London.
And now I'm getting a strange feeling of deja vu
  • How could we be anywhere else than South (east) London?

    Certainly not Kent!

We're a south east London club, South London is a different area for me
  • South east London - Greenwich area (Charlton)
South london - Streatham/croydon area (Palace)
South West london - Putney and places like that

We sing South london because if we sung South east london it would sound shit

    Perdantic at best.

If I talk to people from North London i SAY I'm from South London. They know where I mean.

As I say Croydon is in Surrey NOT London. Streatham is nowhere near Croydon, it's SE London ... it's on the South Circular and 5 minutes from Lewisham.

Putney ... might as well be in Scotland.

It is South London, but South East London for greater accuracy.

Its like classing us in Bexley as 'Kent'. Got nowt in common with the funny folk of Ashford etc.

The Rectory Field Blackheath was used by KENT County Cricket Club until the early seventies. Blackheath Cricket Club plays in the KENT League.

The Rectory Field is further West than The Valley ergo Charlton is in KENT!:-)

So using that logic Heathrow is in Kent, eh Len?

We're discussing where the Western boundary of Kent finishes and the Eastern boundary of London begins.

If, as I demonstrated, Blackheath, which is West of Charlton, is Kent then surely Charlton must be too?

Heathrow is the other side of London and I would say it is in Middlesex.

Depends Len, the Rectory ground is south of the Valley. West maybe, but still south.

Charlton is in South East London - now behave!!!
  • There's an old Surrey/Kent boundary stone around Telegraph Hill, behind New Cross Gate. There's another in Plough Way in Rotherhithe.

Means bugger all now, of course.

The great English poet, Walter de la Mare, was born in Charlton, *Kent*.

Apparently he also wrote the Palace Family song too.

    READ AND WEEP.

  • We used to play in the Kent county cup as well apparently:
