Curiouser and curiouser
So just who is the "they" who changed it at the last minute?
Good to see the Club communicating more also. We know they can't comment on every single bit of gossip or speculation but good to see them do so sometimes to put things straight.

Sounds like he's getting messed around to me. Powell is probably the only reason he hasn't signed for another club yet.0
-
Seriously think we're spending too much time on Evina. This could go on all Summer and leave us in the lurch.0

Dubai agent being a dick0
-
Henry, he mentions the "Dubai based agent"... I'd personally want an agent that can see me play every now and again and was in the same country. Maybe that's only me?
Agreed. That's exactly how I read it. Sounds as though his agent is trying his luck, leaking news stories and so on - trying to drum up some interest.jamiebcool said:Sounds like he's getting messed around to me. Powell is probably the only reason he hasn't signed for another club yet.
Meanwhile Powell does actually want to keep Ceddy around - and I dare say this is keeping Ceddy around at the moment. I doubt he would be training with the U21s, prepared to go to Spain and keeping up appearances if he didn't want some form of future here.0 -
The 'they' is indeed quite ambiguous.Henry Irving said:Curiouser and curiouser

I read 'they'as a reference to the Dubai based agent,SCP would not refer to anyone negotiating for CAFC in those terms.0 -
Indeed. Could well be the agent and player but Powell saidRob62 said:

"“We got very close last week and right at the last minute they changed it again. Ceddy is well within his rights to turn it down and his Dubai-based agent has advised him not to sign.”
So "they" changed it and Ceddy then turned it down? Why would ceddy turn it down if ceddy changed it?0 -
Wasn't happy with our offer obviously, the agent must be confident of other possibilities materialising or we meet his demands.LuckyReds said:I wonder why he didn't turn up. Quite surprised at how much SCP has said there to be honest.

Agents have got a lot to answer for. Sounds his agent could have given him duff advice and stitched him up good n proper0

Reading between the lines I think it sounds like the club changed it.0
-
I read it as, when the deal was close, Evina/agent changed demands and therefore turned down the offer on the table.0
-
Yeah, now that Henry has posted that particular quote again.. I'm pondering at whether thats what Powell is getting at.ShootersHillGuru said:Reading between the lines I think it sounds like the club changed it.

If "they" changed it meaning Ceddys team. Why would Ceddy then refuse to sign. Seems obvious it was Charltons negotiating team that changed it and Ceddy wouldn't sign.0
-
That's how I'm reading it, but I don't really like taking it like that. Doesn't fill me with much confidence for Powell to be talking that way openly, I can't see "them" being happy with him about it.. Combined with his prior talk about frustration regarding lack of transfers.ShootersHillGuru said:If "they" changed it meaning Ceddys team. Why would Ceddy then refuse to sign. With both of these points we all know, or had a fairly good inclination, that this was the case. However, by coming out and openly confirming it.. Surely he's not doing himself any favours? I'd hate to see him land in hot water for simply engaging in the fans and keeping us aware of what's going on; as alien a concept as that may be to the board.0 -
Doesn't it mean they changed their demands? And then the club withdrew.ShootersHillGuru said:If "they" changed it meaning Ceddys team. Why would Ceddy then refuse to sign. Seems obvious it was Charltons negotiating team that changed it and Ceddy wouldn't sign.

If we knew what "it" was, then we'd know who "they" were!0

Slight exaggeration his talents there. Walk into any Championship team? Really?LargeAddick said:
Agree totally.francis4england said:Evina is leaving for first team football, can anyone blame him? He is a very talented footballer who imo would walk in to alot of championship teams, it is just unfortunate for him that we have one of the best left backs in the league ahead of him

Jimenez and Slater probably have a negotiations team.0

Club withdrew ? Didn't CP say Ceddy wouldn't sign ?Talal said:

Actually yes on second reading it does seem as though the club changed their offer.0
-
We offered shirt buttons, Ceddy wanted real money, hence the standoff................simples0

“We got very close last week and right at the last minute they changed it again. Ceddy is well within his rights to turn it down and his Dubai-based agent has advised him not to sign.”
SCP refers to'we' which I have taken to mean Charlton so my interpretation of 'they' was Ceddy's team of advisers and that they changed their aspirations.
Originally I was under the impression that he was looking for a two year deal, possibly this was accepted and then his advisers wanted something else. The fact that he then speaks about a 'Dubai-based agent' makes me feel that SCP is trying to make a point.

If we are piss balling about then fair play to Ceddy for sticking with it.0

I believe old Dicky J has read the situation most accurately.Richard J said:

Powell says “He’s since been training with the U21s. He’s not training on his own, as was incorrectly reported, and has been told to report in and train with the guys that are there." that sounds like another dig. i think i read a quote from the agent saying Ceddy was training on his own so looks to me like SCP is not happy with Ceddy's team/agent

I don't know what to believe anymore lol0
-
I read it as we were missing him about so he didn't sign.
However, if that was the case, the club would not have published that piece.
What is clear, Powell wants him and for whatever reason, hasn't got him.0 -
if he wants to play for us he will sign if he don't he wont give him till we return from spain then no joy jog him on0
-
He's hoping, or his agent's hoping, that a better offer comes his way.0
