There are similar ones that can be downloaded free, I wouldn't pay for it unless u really want the Microsoft name.BIG_ROB said:Yeah, just had Black Grape on and it did sound a bit tinny. Looks like I need to buy the full Microsoft Office, I thought these computers all came with it.....?

My eldest son is is likely to get this ASUS laptop. He asked my opinion.
So, reading the above, ASUS appear to be recommended. He uses it for watching films, playing games, playing music & surfing. Everything I suppose.
So, has anyone got any strong views as to whether this is a good deal ? He's not looking to pay anymore.
Is there a better deal anyone would recommend & could he get it cheaper elsewhere ?
Thanks all.

Bought my daughter an Asus about a year ago. Still going strong now. Build quality isn't particularly high but it runs well.Covered End said:My eldest son is is likely to get this ASUS laptop. He asked my opinion.

Looking at that link, that seems quite pricey for an i5 processor. If he shops around I'm sure he could get an i7 for a similar outlay.

Got a hp and Sony no probs with either
Although the Sony was pricey but the screen res is fantastic
The hp is good and was around the 300 mark
Although tend to be using a tablet more and more now0 -

Bought one last year for family to use when visiting and works fine. Keyboard feels clunky but does the job and no problems, good value.0

They all end up going wrong eventually, there's only so much xhamster a laptop can take.0

I have this model. Bought it a year ago because it was one of the few with a decent spec that came with Windows 7 instead of 8. It's been fine and will easily do all the stuff he wants to do, unless he wants very high spec gaming, in which case he might need a better graphics card, but he can have one fitted for a few quid. I got a refurbished model, cost me about £370. It was already a fairly old model when I got it, I seem to remember, so it is definitely pretty old now.Covered End said:My eldest son is is likely to get this ASUS laptop. He asked my opinion.

For music, just invest in a good quality lead and plug into the back of your hifi. That will almost certainly be better than any computer sound system you will get, and it won't cost anything beyond the price of the lead.
(The first time I bought proper interconnects and speaker cable I couldn't believe the improvement in sound quality).
