U17 Bulgarian keeper Mitov, Edwards, Gomez and Other Scholars Sign

Good to see Gomez and Edwards are still with us, I expect they'll be offered a pro deal to sign when they're 17, like Shelvey and a few others have done.
Second year it's been a big group, gives us an U18 squad of over 20 players, and that's excluding any promising U16s that step up.0 -
Gomez is the real deal all right. The trouble is you can keep the scouts away from Sparrows Lane League games but not the Youth Cup games. That's when Chelsea saw Palmer.0

excited about this and the success of the u21 team. The first team is also doing well. The future's bright lads.0

Regan Charles-Cook is the miss' work colleagues son, who came from Arsenal. I am told he has a lots of brothers still at Arsenal, I know that one of them plays in goal. I've also been told he is related to Harriott in some way, possibly a second cousin.0

I think Ryan Huddart has progressed well since leaving Charlton. Currently an England U17!! Don't think that qualifies him to be a rubbish keeper!!!!!

Could you help educate us from a parental point of view of why a junior would move from a club like Charlton where they are much more likely to get potential first team opportunities, to a club like Arsenal that have a poor record for bringing through youth players ?
Would be interested in the considerations

Do Arsenal have a poor record of bringing through youth players (were you being tongue in cheek?).
I would say they have a poor record in bringing through their own youth players but a good record at nicking other teams youth players at about 16 and bringing them through to claim they are theirs. Not sure it is morally right from Arsenal's perspective but it seems to work for them (Fabregas et al) and morals seem to play little part in footy now a days sadly.0 -
Largely overseas though AC. The only decent domestic players to come since Merson, Adams, Parlour etc 20-odd years ago has been Ashley Cole, Wilshire and Gibbs.0
-
Arsenal have just signed an 18 ye old keeper from Bristol Rovers - that might piss on Ryan's strawberries a bit.0

That is true as far as establishing themselves in the Arsenal side but there are a few others playing elsewhere in the Prem and Championship.AFKABartram said:Largely overseas though AC. Arsenal have produced a load on players down the years, but generally of a level not good enough to play for a top 4 club. They have generally found decent careers elsewhere though0

arturo lupoli was a goal machine for their youth teams, and never reached the heights predicted
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arturo_Lupoli
same could be said for rhys murphy who use to be their top scorer at youth levels but never made the step up, though he has scored7 this year for dagenham, like sheffield united he could come good....
