Latest Charlton blank frustrates Pritchard

  • I know mate, would love as we all would to see a diamond of a midfielder alongside him doing the defence splitting passes smashing them in from 30 yards but we will never have a player of that calibre under the current regime. so guess we just have to make the best of what we have.
  • yep and right now that includes the boy pritch
  • forest
    blackpool
    Blackburn
    wigan

all in the top 6 or 7 teams at the start of the season who would be fancied for promotion and unbeaten against them and conceded 1 goal yes we have only scored 2, but we were conceding and not scoring prior lets not forhet this
  • and Leicester.. ;-)

Pritchard is a good player, but technically he was wrong with that effort and probably any one of us who played football to a decent level would have done better - which is frustrating. He put his foot round the ball (admittedly he said he was trying to get over it) but this was a ball you hit with the middle of your boot, not the side. Getting your head over it and hitting through it. He had enough time to do this on Sunday.

Having said all that, a bad miss but I have seen worse and Pritchard is a key player for the side and he does get himself into positions. Glad to hear Keith peacock is working with him on an area of his game he needs to improve and hopefully he will.
  • It was a good job for pritchard that we didn't concede. Had we lost the game the finger would be pointed directly at him.

Its as if some our fans use the phrase 'you're only as good as your last game' a bit too literally.
  • Last season there was a load of chances he had and fluffed in front of goal but it wasn't the end of the world as you could see a player in there who read the game well and put a lot of effort in.

This season it's just the player who fluffs chances...he hasn't offered our team anything this term, get Gower back in the side!

Pritch is definitely not the problem we have in scoring goals. We have people in the team payed explicitly to score goals and look no more likely to score than Pritchard.

But he is the reason we are not creating playing wide and if we dont create we dont score....lets not forget his pass against Millwall that cost us the game.
He should not play wide, when you have Green and Harriott on the sidelines

Can you imagine this list if say Green or Sordell had missed that chance, the bloke is sadly out his depth.

Green? He never gets into that sort of position.

Our good run at the end of last season came with Pritchard playing on the right.

Can't pass or cross? If that was true he'd have never got so many assists last season.

Wilson (if Solly is available) or Stewart are his competition for me. Green is an impact sub at best which just isn't enough.

Even some of the top clubs have or had players like Pritchard who's biggest strengths are their work rate, teamwork and fitness. Park when he was at Man Utd, Milner at Man City, Dirk Kuyt when he was at Liverpool all did similar jobs for their clubs.

Powell's clearly not going to play two out and out wingers and that's understandable given our weakness in central midfield.

Wondered when you would appear on a Pritchard bashing thread. Just surprised it took you so long.

  • Could we also ask Keith Peacock to work with Wiggins on his crosses. He works hard, gets into some excellent positions, and then seems to be aiming at the far flag.

Get Paddy off the mower and get him on this

  • The most frustrating player for me on Sunday was Stewart. We needed him to be more direct and take on and beat defenders, but he couldn't get behind them or through them.

Hope we don't see the midfield the columnist suggested - especially away! I'd go with Powell being right on that one.
  • No defensive midfielder? We'd get thrashed with that midfield.
  • Apologies for nicking this stat from someone else:

Last season, in the 23 games Pritchard played on the right, our record was W12 D7 L4
In the 23 games someone else played on the right, our record was W5, D7, L11

So maybe he is the best option for right midfield.
  • we have scored 9 goals this season, the lowest with Yeovil, and Keithy Peacock is our striker/finishing coach. Uhmm.
  • I was more disappointed when he was fed the ball down the right, cut inside and opted to hit a (weak) shot at the keeper with his left foot, rather than laying it off.

No problem with BP in general though and think our team is better with him in it.................
