Sam Sodje named as match fixing rigger

  • Absolutely mugged. Brilliant sting by the sun. Some of these footballers are so thick. I bet there's loads of them out there and I bet there are agents involved that set this all up.
  • So many bizarre incidents in football that could possibly be rigged. Must be rife at the lower levels.
  • "My brother is a striker and if you were to give me say £50-60k, he can get booked because when he scores he can take his shirt off."

    I wouldn't hold your breath!

Might explain why people continue to do that when they obviously know they'll get booked though.

Sam Sodje 56 league and cup appearances. 6 goals, 3 sending offs. His last sending off for us at Home to Swindon on 26/12/09, was his 14th red card of his career

Does anyone remember the Bristol Rovers away game which was televised? One of their players was going up to head the ball into an open net I think, and Sam Sodje literally just stood there and pushed him over whilst in mid-air.

I remember watching it thinking how blatant it was. It couldn't have been anymore of an obvious red card offence, but the referee clearly didn't see anything.

There is quite a Charlton (or rather ex Charlton) connection with match fixing historically.

Jimmy Gauld ringleader of the sixties "bribes" scandal which destroyed the careers of Tony Kay, Peter Swan and David Layne amongst others.

The Malaysian sting Kap mentioned above

Joe Woolley ex colts academy goalkeeper

    Sodjegate

If I was a third tier footballer, nearing the end of my career, earning 2k a week and fuck all chance of earning much outside the game once it had finished and had a family to support, for £70k I'll have to admit I'd take a yellow card every day of the week
    #whore

Fantastic , Ooey , what minute , just so i can have a little flutter.

I think we're going to have to nickname Sam 'Dodgy Sodje' if the papers haven't done already , trouble is mud sticks.

I wish to make a comment that is not PC offensive but at the same time deals with standards of ethics and governance in different parts of the globe.

We know that Africa has a much lower standard as measured by British standards of our legal framework and this still applies today.

Although citizens of the Royal Borough of Greenwich perhaps the gentlemen concerned have more of their African culture when it comes to the observance of legal standards!

I apologise to anyone who could interpret this as an offensive generalisation!!!!

    Not offensive at all.

A correct observation in my opinion.
  • I hear what your saying Jonny , but didn't we think the same about our politics before the MP's expenses scandal broke?

Wouldn't agree really, as many have also involved English players in the past, such as: Accrington Stanley–Bury, 2008. The Whitehawk players were from South London, and the match fixing in Snooker too.

Sorry but I confined my comments to the brothers.

At the same time there are plenty of examples of Anglo Saxon/Celtic corruption so in no way was I suggesting that IC1s were paragons of virtue.

As far as politicos are concerned those lazy feckers who in the main have never worked a day in the real world do not comprehend the lives led by the majority of those they are supposed to represent!

Saddened by this - always like Sam. Always thought he was committed to the cause.

That's what makes this so confusing, the one thing you could never doubt about Sodje was his commitment.

If anything he was too committed at times and gave away silly free kicks and bookings - now we may know why.

If he has been involved then he really is thicker than pig shit.

You can understand lower-league players doing it but PL players like Campbell are on 30-40K per week anyway - fuck knows how but they are - so putting it all at risk is crazy.

If convicted they will all get life bans - the likes of Sky/BT will go absolutely mental that their extremely expensive 'product' is being harmed and will push for the heaviest possible penalty.

    Jesus Wept!

It's only when you see it like this actually on camera that you realize how brazen they are.

Firstly, how thick must Sodje be? Everyone knows that the papers would kill for this sort of story, so to be meeting people in hotel rooms like this is just so, so risky.

Secondly, how angry would you be as a Pompey fan or Oldham fan? Both clubs are on their arses and you've got this pair of c--ts pulling stunts like this.

Let's be clear here, if you offered either of these two enough dough they would do ANYTHING on the field, give away a penalty, score an own goal anything at all.
  • What's to say we shouldn't be angry as CAFC fans.
