Yep, lets hope it never happens!Lincsaddick said:
I try to be an upbeat and happy chappie at all times .. BUT .. I think that you are being wildly optimistic .. 10 years in the 3rd strata and still pulling gates of 10,000 ? .. let's hope that we never have to test this (or indeed my) theoryCAFCTrev said:
An extended spell in League One can impact any clubs fanbase, if we ended spending 10 years in L1 Id think we would struggle to get 10K regularly by the 10th year.Lincsaddick said:Sorry to sound like a miserable old (in my day) chappie .. BUT ... In the distant past when the valley WAS the valley with terraces that could accommodate 50,000+, I have stood and watched games in the lower divisions amongst 'crowds' as low as 3,4, and 5,000 .. attendances (more apt than 'crowds') of 8,000, if we were to go down again, could we'll be the norm. Let us hope this never comes to pass.

We would still get 10,000 I think - as its likely there would be a number of promotion chases involved.Lincsaddick said:

Bradford pulled in over that number whilst in League Two and have had nowhere near the on pitch success we have had over the past 20 odd years.

^^^ perhaps the happy 10 grand would appear for a season or two .. but for 10 years ? .. even if there was a chance of promotion after all that time, many of the diehard Addicks fans would have kicked the bucket and many of the remainder would have found something else to do .. I repeat .. Let's hope that it NEVER EVER need come to that !! ..I agree about Bradford .. but check their gates if they don't get promotion after (say) three seasons .. but big city Yorkshire fans are loyal .. look @ the Sheff clubs and Leeds .. on the other hand, Hudds (not so much) and Barnsley (for example) suffer by comparison0

Both Stoke and Reading had extended spells in League One in the late 90s/early 00'a, their crowds averaged 8-9K during this period. As a club of a similar size I think we would do the same if we went down again.0

Stoke and Reading bigger fan bases than Charlton. So 2000 or so less I reckonCAFCTrev said:Both Stoke and Reading had extended spells in League One in the late 90s/early 00'a, their crowds averaged 8-9K during this period.
