Never understood the obsession some on here have with disliking Sheffield Wednesday.1

What Is It Like For Visiting Supporters?
Away fans are normally placed in the upper tier of the West Stand (the Leppings Lane) end of the ground, where up to 3,700 away supporters can be accommodated. If there is a particularly large following (or for an FA Cup Tie) then the corner described above may also be made available, plus the lower tier of the West Stand. This can take the allocation up to 8,000. Alternatively if a small away support is expected then the open corner between the Leppings Lane & North Stand is only made available. There are a number of supporting pillars in the West Stand, which could impede your view. On the concourse food on sale includes; A range of Pies (£3), Sausage Rolls (£2.60), Cheeseburgers (£3.70), Burgers (£3.40) and Hot Dogs (£3.70). The refreshments are served from behind a metal mesh, which gives the area a prison like feel.
I had an enjoyable day out at Hillsborough, where I found the atmosphere around the ground to be relaxed. I thought the ground was certainly one of the best in the League, if not the country, in terms of setting and attractiveness. Lee Hicklin adds; 'About a hundred yards down Leppings Lane there is a programme and football memorabilia shop, which is worth a visit'.

New Barrack Tavern is a great little boozer. 15 of us in there the other season when we drew 2-2 and the owner looked after us as we were in there from midday. Top bloke.0

Lol, we will probably get the upper tier to start with and if those sales are going well some in the lower tier will be considered.kinveachyaddick said:What will our allocation be?

Never been to Hillsborough but have a good mate who is Wednesday and always look forward to the home game to meet up and have a few bevs. Good lads in my experience.Tavern said:A team we have played many times over the years in various cup and league games.
I remember in the 70's cup game and fair play they came in numbers and also when we played them in the cup at theirs about 8 years ago.
They seem to be one of them clubs we either like or hate them?0 -
For some reason i really dont like wednesday. First match i ever saw was at selhurst and we lost 1-0, walshie had a goal disallowed it was 2 foot over the line.
will never forget those muggs celebrating our relegation. We never had a particular rivalry so thought that was OTT
OP is alright though and provides a lot of chuckle material on ere0 -
Sunderland have just recalled him, hope he don't come back to them till after the FA cup game0

Agree that the NBT is one of the finest on the circuit and that the Fat Cat and the Kelham are just as good but will be less crowded for all us real ale lovers. I believe trams can be got from down there too. Maybe Piggy can confirm.operationpig said:
Agree, but not as good as the Cat or Tav, but cuts out the taxis etc, if you can though, try the Kelham Island sometime, award winning boozer mate.ElfsborgAddick said:operationpig said:
Taxi would be 15 mins tops ,but don't leave it till 2.30.ElfsborgAddick said:operationpig said:NBT, Kelam Island Tavern and Fat Cat which is just across the road from the Tav are fantastic mate, although the NBT is much nearer the ground.

Good website, bit of a hike from the ground it seems, brisk 25 minutes?
Have to be the NBT then. Probably the best boozer on the 'away' circuit
I have to agree that Hillsborough is somewhere you should visit if you haven't been. Not soulless like so many new stadia and bags of history. Only two downers are that in some recent seasons there has been no alcohol on sale, and the knobs that came out harassing women kids and scarfers at the end, which is a poor show. We may have a knob or two but I don't recall that happening near the Valley but no doubt someone will correct me...1 -
