he could of had true legendary status with us , gutted to be honest but let's see who we being in now !6 -
Time for new 'legend' or 'cult hero' to propel us to safety1
-
Yann had a year extension that couldve been activated in 2 games automatic
Hudds and donny he said he was unfit to play against hudds but was fit enough for donny to say bye bye
Bless his cotton socks1 -
Is that the scrap yard in B'mouth behind him? Is he chucking his s****y clothes out?flyingkiwiDK said:0 -
I have a feeling this thread will implode any second now.0

Roland needs a big buy or he will be very unpopular amongst the fans.
In the relegation zone and seeing our team completely removed of quality is very worrying. Especially when foreign players need time to adapt to the squad and league.0 -
Well what a shit day this is turning out to be.0
-
the only people at a football club who have loyalty to the club are the fans, ok some employees may also be fans but generally those on the payroll do not have loyalty to the club but to themselves, just like the rest of us. After all if your contract was about to end and you were offered better elsewhere would you remain or go, especially from CAFC with all the current uncertainty with regard to CP and others.
So Yann I'm sorry you've gone, I understand your decision and wish you the best at Bournemouth.1 -
One strange thing is the optional 1-year extension, that has been banded around.
Perhaps it was based on us matching or even raising his wages etc?
Hence we didn't activate it, as we wanted to keep him, but on reduced terms?
Also the club wouldn't have offered him a 2 year deal. It would either be a 1.5 year deal, or a 2.5 year deal. I believe their PR have rounded up to 2!
Good luck to Yann0 -
Moving on...0

They probably mean a new 2 year deal after the existing one ends, ie starting July 2014 & ending 2016.Ben18 said:One strange thing is the optional 1-year extension, that has been banded around.

There's a long way to go today yet. Doesn't look great at the moment but I reckon there'll be more ins and outs to come, and hopefully they'll make us happier than we are now!flyingkiwiDK said:Well what a shit day this is turning out to be.

Thanks Yann, good luck in your future.
But we move on. Exciting times ahead.0 -
Not got a bad word to say about yann & wish him the best of luck at bourney. Gutted he is gone but lets give the new boys a chance. They may become our new yann.1

I've heard and believe that to be true.0 -
Obviously sad news that we have let out best player leave and a talisman at that
HOWEVER I'm seeing this as a 'semedo moment' , we all love him and he was going to sign for charlton for life etc but he can barely get into the Wednesday side now!
Good luck yann and thanks for the memories!0 -
I did my grieving for Yann yesterday. Let's see who comes in now. Yann has gone we have new gods to worship.2
-
Signing rated but random foreigners in place of the spine of the team will either be an unlikely wild success or a seriously massive failure.
What worries me is it took us years to find Yann-type players after suffering the likes of Traore.
They are the heart of the club.2 - Sponsored links:

Always comes back to that bleedin' pitch!!0 -
not even the signing of this polish guy will cure the situation I am going through right now. weird how a football player could means so much to you.... should really start re evaluating my life haha0
-
Yann was an unrated and random foreigner when we singed him. We'll have to see how the new lads do. First things first though we need more of them0

He was contracted to the end of this season so a 2 year extension takes him through to July 2016Ben18 said:One strange thing is the optional 1-year extension, that has been banded around.

If he was offered reduced terms then quite frankly that's an insult and I can see why he has gone.
Have barely missed a home game since 1995 and despite having seen players a la Rufus, Mendonca, Kinsella etc, there was just something about Yann that really made him a favourite of mine compared to most of them. I cant think of anyone else that had the quite unusual combination of having real flair, a gallic temperament but also grit, determination and a refusal to give up. I also think the timing of his stay just made his contribution more meaningful- we had just had a few years of watching absolute dross loanees and along came a bloke, we in all honesty had no expectations of, who played in the manner he did. I agree with the post doubting whether we would have won league one without him and that's not just for his goals- would BWP have scored 20+ that season with anyone else next to him?
Au revoir Yann- You are a Charlton legend in my book.2 -
from the bbc sport text:
"I understand West Bromwich Albion are still intending to try and sign a striker today, likely on a loan basis.
"Pepe Mel has prioritised bringing in a new player following Shane Long's sale earlier this month and injuries to both Nicolas Anelka and Stephane Sessegnon.
"Standard Liege player Imoh Ezekiel and Espanyol's Thievy are two names that have been linked with a move to The Hawthorns in recent days."
Too good for us so goes to prem?0 -
Fair play to them committing publicly to spend the money that's come through in this window0
-
Yann was never going to play those 2 games though unless he was offered more money
I refuse to allow any player or mngr hold cafc to ransome and not feel slightly pissed off about it
The lesson here is don't cross roland
And dale wanted a transfer over a year ago so he can stop the shit stirring
And now tell me why SD posted his powell knows nothing post when it was widely known on monday that this could happen
Dark forces and agendas
People are fucked off with rolands vision and yet people within are just as dangerous13 -
Wot is going on all this signings , dont know any of em can pronounce any of em , are they any good probably not , powelly surely cant agree with this i fancy he will fuck off soon and we will.end up with some foriegn prick who knows shit about our club , really not happy pissed off.1
