I can't see what else you want to hear - hopefully it'll get sorted sooncafctom said:Chris Slegg @ChrisSlegg 8m
New Charlton owner Roland Duchatelet: "we are in discussions to renew Chris's (Powell's) contract. There's no doubt he's a very good coach."0 -

Not catching everything as I'm only following the #cafc tag. Cheers to others posting updates. :-)0

The Positives
Duchâtelet was there in person.
They are talking to fans/press.
Powell sat shoulder to shoulder with the boss.
Made the right noises.
Investment being made in the pitch.
The Negatives
Mainly hot air and weasel words.
No contract extension (yet).
No news of new signings (yet).

Yeah, so he got rid of three that were good enough...really makes sense.4

Stephens wanted to go for a while, Alnwick would be gone by now regardless, so actually, that's one. And from a business perspective it made sense. Can't really say I totally disagree with his reasoning.Weegie Addick said:Yeah, so he got rid of three that were good enough...really makes sense.

Standard soundbytes that if written, could easily have been ghosted for their blandness.
Bit disappointed. Expected something a bit more insightful.
As said, seems a rehash of the Meet the Board0 -
So from this press conference we have heard directly from the four most important people involved in the future of the club that we will invest in our academy, replace the pitch ASAP, not move away from our home, there are ongoing negotiations to extend Powell's contract and the owner will aim to bring in decent players from all over Europe in a way that will not make our club go into the red. And people are somehow unhappy? Bloody hell.33

No-one ever promised an expose or an insight into RD's vision or business practices, this CP contract was spur of the moment gossip at most. All expectation was created by others - RD did EXACTLY what he said he would, and no more. Which is disappointing but not dishonest to be fair.AFKABartram said:Standard soundbytes that if written, could easily have been ghosted for their blandness.

This wasn't a press conference for the fans, this was a press conference, for the national/local/belgian press that might be interested. People who are "disappointed" honestly need to get over themselves.6

Words are cheap and there appears no plan for the short term = relegation this season due to lack of investment/good loans. Jeez how many of our fans don't get this!Garrymanilow said:So from this press conference we have heard directly from the four most important people involved in the future of the club that we will invest in our academy, replace the pitch ASAP, not move away from our home, there are ongoing negotiations to extend Powell's contract and the owner will aim to bring in decent players from all over Europe in a way that will not make our club go into the red. We do not have to take a step back to take two forwards. Selling our best players and replacing them with not good enough foreign mercenaries does not get the job doe:(2 -

That because it wasn't a news conference. It is/was a PRESS conference, a completely different thing. No news was promised by anyone, we got lucky that they confirmed that there is anything moving with CP's contractual status.Weegie Addick said:
