Ha ha you and about 50 million others!0 -
One of my Whatsapp groups has the most depraved filth on it. There is no way I want that linked with facebook in any way at all.
Does anyone use Whatsapp for anything other than (ahem) 'banter'?0 -

I'd never heard of it but 19bn ? Apparently they only employ 50 people0

This is possibly the most ridiculous valuation of anything ever.
Here is what is going to happen. Facebook will ruin or commercialise whatsapp.
Someone will come up with another version, which is basically whatsapp but without Zuckerberg's shite all over it.
Facebook then buy this new messaging service.
Repeat ad infinitum.1 -
i've never heard of it either.0

people said the same of instagram, which facebook bought for $1 billion but is still going strong. Whatsapp has been going longer and nearly everyone has it on their smartphonesHuskaris said:This is possibly the most ridiculous valuation of anything ever.

Insane amount of money which means they will be looking to increase the revenue through adverts etc much like facebook. Still, nice little payday for the 2 guys that set it up, even if the facebook shares end up worthless.0

Insane amount of money for something that is effectively a text/chat service.
What exactly makes WhatsApp different from what is on Facebook anyway, apart from the fact that info is deleted on the server once it has been sent?0 -
much more data that facebook can sell.cafctom said:Insane amount of money for something that is effectively a text/chat service.

Clearly a lot of money to be made with these messaging apps. Snapchat turned down something like a $3-4bn offer from facebook at the end of last year and that was created by two 23 year olds.0
