Fight fire with fire in this one, imho, little chance we'll keep a clean sheet and they should come at us which will actually give us chance of exploiting some space in their defensive third. We're the home side and need the points so lets play like it.

    4-3-1-2

    Hamer

    Wilson
    Morro
    Dervite
    Wiggins

    Cousins
    Poyet
    Jacko

    Astrid

    Sordell
    Obika

Hard, hard game this although obviously we've started looking OK at home.

Leicester and Burnley are running away with the league but I think they're two quite different sides. I see Leicester as a premier league side; plenty of flair in midfield, play attacking football and are capable of the spectacular.

Burnley on the other hand are what we can call a 'very good championship team'. They work extremely hard and rather force the issue, hoping their talented strikers will pick out one of their crosses and score.

I feel Leicester are probably better suited for the premier league at the moment. But anyway, 0-2 Burnley for me

Would love a point but reckon they are too good for us. 1-3 to the Clarets, Obika get off the mark.
  • I am actually looking forward to this Saturday (something I've not done for a while) even though we probably get a hiding I suddenly got my enthusiasm back
Maybee we can get something out of this?

    Burnley's form is incredible.

Last 8: 6 wins, 2 Draws (and one of them was Brum scoring a last min equalizer)

Think they have done amazing getting into the position they are, but of the three games we having in the next week, this is the one I have the most hope of a win from. No win, and the picture might not look so positive again come next weekend.

    Worth noting that:

    - no one in the division has scored more goals in the 1st half than Burnley (28)

    - no one in the division has scored less goals in the 1st half than Charlton (9)

Hopefully we can play with belief and trust in defence.
Prediction: Jacko free-kick around the hour mark leads to a backs-to-the-wall finale - our turn to concede in injury time.

Anything but a severe one-sided hammering will be a major bonus for us though it's just the sort of impossible challenge that we will win comfortably for no logical reason at all.

    3-1 (Sodall hat -trick)
  • You guys will recall what it feels like when you're up there challenging late into the season: you feel unbeatable. The Ings injury (he'll be out for 4 weeks or so) is a big blow, but is why we bought Ashley Barnes in January. So we'll still likely line up 4-4-2 but we're back to how we were before Xmas, with no back up striker. Barnes looks a good player, but maybe doesn't put as much running in as Ings?

The rest of the squad is fit, and so I can't see it affecting us too much, and so we'll play the same game we have all season.

    I'm hoping for:

    Charlton 1-2 Burnley

    Silver game.

Only just seen that Burnley haven't lost a league game in 14. But all runs come to end at some point so why not Saturday?

I'm worried that Wilson will be out injured, and that Cousins may have to slot in to right back. If that happens, the midfield gets weakened too (with possibly Pritchard starting?). I thought Harriott was a tactical change on Tuesday so would expect him to start again, with Obika and Sordell up front, in a 4-4-2, but we might also just go for it with Astrit in a 4-3-1-2 if it is a game we expect to lose...

Leaving the game aside for a moment, I am detecting a spring in everyones step. This is going to be important on the run in, COYR.

Will obviously be a very tough game considering how well Burnley are doing this season. Would be happy enough with a draw after the Bournemouth win and can see us getting that - 1-1

Going with Exiled Addict's line up, weather Jose will is another matter.

Just feel we might as well go for it, we are sound enough at the back, lets see what they are like.

Logic says 2-0 Burnley, but I think we may get something hear, not confident enough to go beyond a nervy 1-1

Not sure why people think Callum may play. Surly the ice pack on the calf along with a limp as he left the field Tuesday tells you all you need to know about his chance. On top of that he was pants

A poor performance in which we never looked liked scoring and struggled to create chances ended by a 92nd minute header = a revolution. I admire your optimism @Stubley but let's not lose perspective.

Ings being out is a big plus for us. I really don't see why we can't win this one. Burnley are due a loss and we seem to be finding our rhythm. Oh, go on then. 1-0 Addicks and yet another clean sheet.
  • Burnley are a very good team at this level and will be a Premiership team next season.

However, Ings being out gives us a much better chance as he's their key player. Their squad isn't the biggest and they rely quite heavily on Ings IMO.

I think this will be a 1-1 draw.

they've only lost 3 all season in the league, that is some record.

3rd highest scorers in the league, 2nd=defensive record.

on paper we have no chance.

    are we playing on paper?

Saled, our record this season without Ings is:

    Watford (h) 0-0
    Leeds (h) 2-1

Barnes is an able deputy. The more worrying news from our camp doesn't involve Ings, but Kieran Tripper our full back. He has the most assists in the league this season, but is rated doubtful with a tight hamstring. With having Barnes, the Ings situation doesn't overly worry me, but the Trippier situation does.
