Is Jordan Cousins the new Jose Semedo?

Hopefully over the Summer the coaches work on making him a better player going forward and attacking.

Semedo didn't end up on the right wing5
-
He's only defensive if asked to play that role. Semedo is a very limited footballer. Cousins is not and is a box to box midfielder if allowed to be.10
-
No, Jordan Cousins is much more mobile than Jose Semedo, who is basically a central defender who plays in midfield because he can't head the ball. In Portugal, a central defender can manage that but not in the English league. Jordan Cousins will be a much better player than Semedo IMHO. He is still a young player and is still developing.8

Box to Box midfielders are usually confident in possession and possess a goal threat.
Don't think you can class Cousins as one of those just yet.0 -
How can you say he's not confident in possession? He also has more shots at goal than Poyet. He's a quality player.CafcSteve said:Box to Box midfielders are usually confident in possession and possess a goal threat.

He often gives the ball away and panics when in possession.
Poyet is a different class at the moment.0 -
But back to your question, Jordan Cousins is definitely not the new Semedo !
Sure, I hope he continues to develop as a player. Poyet is stand out at the moment but Cousins is still a very good player.1 -
What a nonsense this thread is.8

Poyet is class, and so is Cousins. They overlap and cover the same areas when playing together, but they will work it out. If they stay together for a while they will rip it up! I believe if they stick together and learn to play together, they could be the best midfield pairing for years and go onto play for England together.CafcSteve said:He often gives the ball away and panics when in possession.

Two kids on a launch pad. Give them a year at CAFC and they will be well on a career at a prem club.7 -
I've highlighted the key word for you. No doubt the coaching staff think he'll develop into a great box to box midfielder.CafcSteve said:Box to Box midfielders are usually confident in possession and possess a goal threat.

Cousins is quality.1

I can see the possibility of Cousins and Poyet playing for England together. Sadly, if it ever happens, neither will be anywhere near Charlton.3

If both Cousins and Poyet were 'quality' they would be creating a lot more chances which everyone seems to say we are not doing.
IMO it has to be one or the other in the centre as neither gets forward, shoots, plays through balls or crosses. Both play two defensive.2 -
Amazing example of modern short termism this thread. Cousins is still a kid and nowhere near the finished article. Cousins is far more comfortable with the ball than semedo ever was.3

Semedo was a boring player who thought he was hard. He wasn't hard at all. Cousins is a better footballer and a lot younger, he will be a better player2

Cousins has only played half a season of first team football and was only converted to centre mid recently. Give him a chance. He has good and bad games but that's the trade-off if you introduce youth. I think he'll go from strength to strength.6

Agreed... Another reason why the England National Team are failing because whenever a kid gets into a First-Team they start getting picked to pieces whenever they go on a poor run of form (hence why Managers are loath to give them their debuts over foreign crap because it always falls back on the Manager)kentaddick said:Amazing example of modern short termism this thread. Cousins has shown he's a good player. He recently said he sees himself as a box to box midfielder. Yesterday he wasn't playing that role. I think he can play with Poyet but they need more movement, pace and quality in front of them.0

This is a massive insult to cousins in my opinion1

completely agreed, look at Jordan Henderson who's been slaughtered in the press and on message boards the past couple of years, now he's turning into a real gem of a player.ForeverAddickted said:

It makes me think about football supporters, i dont think in any other profession that we've been exposed to our entire lives, such as films, television, cooking and computers, football seems to be the one that everyone apparently has an expert opinion on.
Then again, I'm posting this on a football forum... I guess i'd think the same about any of the others if I posted on one of their specialist forums.2 -

Yeah this! much more to come from that young man God we're lucky to have him.vff said:No, Jordan Cousins is much more mobile than Jose Semedo, who is basically a central defender who plays in midfield because he can't head the ball. giving balance to my arguement, but I do believe that for football supporters think they know their stuff more than film or food buffs.vff said:Re: Football supporters: Kent are you disproving / arguing against your own point ?

I don't get this widespread acclaim for Cousins: I haven't seen him do anything beyond the expectations of a moderately competent defensive midfielder. We have watched such rubbish for the last two seasons that if a player makes two successful tackles in quick succession some people jump up and down and hail him a hero.1
