Went to the Barnsley Leeds game today (I'm a football addict) and deary me, Barnsley were awful, they would struggle in L1 with that performance, players just looked disinterested which I found strange on the back of a decent result and against a bitter local rival as well.

I was sat in their main stand and they were not happy bunnies, I thik they'll go down after watching them.

    P.S Leeds were bad too.

Thanks for the report OP. Still baffled by our loss to them.

Think it's best to predict a best and worse case scenario and look for something inbetween.
  • Sounds like we need to pack the away end at Blackpool.

    Or our goalmouth..

I said on another thread that Barnsley have failed to score in their last five home games and haven't even created any decent chances. Their fans are as frustrated as ours over the lack of goals. I think the defences in this league must be better than ever.

Talking to some fellow fans on Friday, the one positive we agreed on was how bad Barnsley were on Tuesday. They didn't look like a team that will pull out of it. Strange to say that seeing as they beat us, but it is true.

Yes, I think we are looking at 4 points in all probability. In a way, It is probably wrong to focus on which teams we need to finish above - just get those points a.s.a.p. It would not be good to go into the Blackpool match needing a result. Let's avoid that please lads.

Agree with Muttley. We need to go to Blackpool three points clear of them. Although that could lead to a scenario where they need to beat us 3-0 to stay up, so better make it four points clear.

    I predict
    Brum - 50
    Barnsley -45
    Doncaster -45
    Millwall - 44
    Blackpool -43
    Yeovil -42

Have no idea what we'll end up with but I expect we'll win at least 1 of our remaining games

My predictions of final points scoring before Friday and Saturdays games. I can't see Yeovil and Barnsley winning 2 out of 3, Blackpool hopefully won't get another point before we play them.

If we can get 4 points from the next 3 we'll be safe going into the Blackpool game.

we have four more games and seeing as we don't score I think four nil nils will keep us up with Yeovil,Barnsley and Blackpool/Donny filling the bottom four places with us and smallwall and Brum just staying above the drop

None of the teams that make the play-offs will ease up in their last games, it's all about form at that point.

Personally I think we'll sneak a win against Blackburn and get a draw against Watford.

Its all about form so that is why we are going to beat Blackburn and draw against Watford, four draws is the best we will get but it should be enough to keep us up as Blackpool Barnsley and Donny wont get four points

Donny have some tough games but should be more up for Monday, think they know they are going to struggle against Reading and Leicester so need something against Millwall

Unfortunately I think Donny will beat Reading as they are falling apart.

Yes, I can see them beating Reading too but no certainty. If they beat Millwall, they will probably be safe. If they don't they won't win any other games and 4 points should do for them. If they beat Millwall, I think 4 points will do for them.

I think they will beat Reading which will put them four points ahead of us which will be too much in my opinion. A few weeks back I thought it was 3 from 4, Us, Yeovil, Barnsley and Millwall. I still think it is 3 from 4 but substituting Blackpool for Millwall. Unless we scrape a win in our next three I can see it going to a winner takes at all at Blackpool on the last day.

No, I meant the playoffs is all about form, so teams like QPR/Derby won't ease up . By the time we play them, Blackburn and Watfords seasons might be done and they have nothing to play for.

Don't really agree with that Gary, I think once a team knows they are in the POs then it's all about having the strongest possible line up for them play off games, therefore not risking any injuries or silly suspensions, obviously form helps but I would've thought a fully fit squad takes priority for potentially three big cup finals.

As well as for form, Wigan and QPR will want to finish fourth to play at home in the second leg.

You don't want to go into the play offs in bad form!

I am slightly worried about QPR and the effect their bad form could have for us. I notice even SWP is back on the bench now.

As well as Barnsley and Millwall , I would like them to beat Watford Monday. I hope the hornets will have nothing to play for when they pitch up at the Valley.

I think Brum might be vulnerable although their goal difference is excellent.

You're absolutely right of course, I was just being flippant :)

Well, if we do stay up, playing Forest and Leeds when they were in meltdown on and off the pitch - let's face it, we would have taken a maximum of one point from those games "normally" - will have had a massive effect. But then we haven't had a lot of luck this season, the penalty incident being the latest example.
  • Tbh I think the very unexpected points v Forest and Leeds when they were both at a very low point have masked our very poor general form. This is my main concern. A haul of four points from our last four fixtures looks to me to be a tall order given our inability to score goals. I am pinning my hopes on all of Barnsley, Yeovil and Donny not picking up any more points. Blackpool away is going to decide our fate.

SHG, i know you've being saying this all along, but i dont think it will be like this. After all, its not as if, Millwall aside, any of the teams around us are tearing up trees with their form (we're equal 2nd behind Millwall in our mini league, based on last 6 matches). If it goes as per average, then we should get 3 points from next 3 games - i think that will be enough, as i can see a situation where Blackpool will need to beat us by 4+ goals to stay up - and although i dont think we will get anything there, i cant see them doing that.
  • I hope you are right.

The winner of Millwall Donny will stay up. As will the winner of us vs Blackpool, most likely (although we do have that extra game on everyone else).

and what if both games end in a draw?

Millwall / Donny will most likely end in a draw. A victory for either one would be better for Charlton. Don't go relying on a Millwall result helping Charlton out in any way as you will most likely end up disappointed.

We have to hope it isn't a big defeat at Wednesday. Goal difference could well be key.
