    Saw Southampton's pitch looking amazing and thought I'd find out more.
    Haven't found who laid it and it's make up, but this was interesting..... (Even photos of our game at the sandy bridge)

    Reported in Tuesday's SLP that the works include making provision for undersoil heating in the future, but will not be done at this time.

    That's a possible interpretation of the story, in fairness, because it says "in the future" and without digging up the pitch again. But there doesn't seem much point in reporting it in this way if it actually means later this year.

    Edit - exact words: "Charlton are set to tear up the Valley pitch in the summer and relay it. And it is understood that the work will be done in a way that means the club can install undersoil heating in the future without the need to rip up the playing surface again."

    Seems odd in the light of Roland's comments in the programme about having the pitch relaid in the summer and the fact that, from the consent documents, a contractor has been appointed to do the work.

    All the pipe work is definitely going in. The boiler can be put in at a later date. Temporary boilers could be bought in and be linked up in a day or two so the club might do that if the weather looks dodgy the week before a game

    NWC - just wondering, from a technical point of view - is there any merit in running under-soil heating on a regular basis in the winter months to keep the ambient temperature up and the grass growing - or would the costs just be too prohibitive? Or do the lighting arrays do a sufficient job anyway and are we hanging on to ours?

    Yes, definitely helps re growth but would of thought it will be costly to have it turned on for weeks at a time

    Its a rule of the Premier League from next season to have undersoil heating, so worth investing now in the pipes, and get the boiler later

    hope they at least do a pressure test before capping off, be a costly exercise connecting at a later date only to find a leak in the pipework :)
