Why the fuck have we signed a Serbian Ozzie gym instructor from St Leonard's Stamcroft?

    Not on CL ( I wasn't a member then).

Why are we buying lower-league players - we've been in the premiership long enough to be competing for proven strikers. But we bought Darren Bent anyway.

I lived in St Leonards at the time and wondered the same. Saw him play once and he could shout but that was it....i thought! Bugger, thats another confession!

I stated on many occasions that Scott Parker would never make a player

On this note, I thought Parker would be a revelation at Chelsea alongside Lampard + Makelele.

I moaned like mad at my son when we bought Darren Bent as I thought what a waste of money.

    He never lets me forget.

I thought appointing Curbs and Gritty as joint managers in 1991was the biggest cop out ever. Really angry I was.

I remember thinking they'd dropped the wrong one when Gritty went (not that I had anything to base this on other that Curb's monotone voice).

I couldn't believe it when I saw him play for us. My mate turned to me and said, "That's the guy who was in goal for Stamco when we saw Canvey play down there". I replied, "Nah, can't be".

When we signed Danny Green I claimed he was the best signing out of all those Powell made and he would either establish himself as a quality and regular player or move on for mega bucks sometime soon.

Although I did predict he'd have a mildly successful clothing business...

In fairness, i went through every one of my comments and had to go back 8 years until i found something incorrect :-)

So what you're saying is "I made a mistake eight years ago but since then I've been perfect".

I honestly believed Chris Dickson was going to be a hero, I was bigging him up to my mate until I saw him play more than once....... we know the rest.
  • When I said "there's no way he'll cop out of getting that tattoo on his arse"

Either that one or when I put a tenner on down betfred that Paulie would go with the grade 4...

I commented on what an excellent signing we made when we purchased Simon Francis.

"Don't know why Rufus comes up for the bloody corners, he never scores" ...This Classic was actually said word for word by my late Father at Wembley.

I remember joining in the "mickey" taking of "Flash" Flanagan when he first played for us. My Dad had a right go at me and said he was going to be a great player.

The rest is history though I would say, in the hope that any punishment might be mitigated, that he proved to be a much better forward than the winger he started out as.

I argued with a friend the Lee Bowyer would be better for England than David Beckham.
