He had an interview last game of the season basically saying he was going .
Also in slp , Wood staying , with Pritchard and Cort leaving and dervite has already had a medical but all of this we knew apart from Wood.

i know that things like this have been mentioned in passing before but nothing solid ever mentioned! as henry says, would be nice to hear this from the club themselves before anyone else! dont understand why some people on here like shootin ppl down and being so sarcastic just because they post something they have heard (in my case genuinely sourced through the slp).

@RichCawleySLP: Also understand that Ben Roberts, Damian Matthew and Laurence Bloom all signed new deals a while back. #cafc

Good news but again why not say this on the OS.

And I will say it again this is not about the Comms team. They "print" the news they are authorised to.

There are sometimes very good reasons why transfers are not on the OS before being all over other media, usually because the OS only announces deals when the player is officially signed, sealed, deliver and ours.

But if three well respected coaching staff have already re-signed why not say so?

Why is nothing being announced , Richard Wood , none of the back room staff none of the youth players and there has been a few that have moved on in Ellis and the keeper , even the new pitch we are getting hasn't been announced properly !

Probably didn't want to say which coaching staff were being retained, as that would by default say who wasn't being retained...

Perhaps they've sacked all the Comms Team as a cost cutting exercise. So there is actually no one to tell us.

In fact. There's an idea. Go straight to Cawley and miss out the middle man.

Not surprised about Dyer going, although i understand he was popular with the players. But he is a close friend of Powell and as others have said i'm sure he will work with Powell again when Powell gets another managerial role. Good luck to him.

Fair enough but it seems Cawley knows (and he could well be partially or totally wrong) who is going and staying.

To me the best way to "manage" that would be to say "Bye Alex, thanks you're a top bloke but we're keeping DM, BR and LB so we have continuity and talent to back up the new head coach when he is appointed" or similar.

Respectful but positive and looking forward. I know the Comms teams could write it much better than me as well.

Andy Hughes departure was handled very well, IMO. Video clips and interviews. OK, not every departing player is Andy Hughes or will want to say nice things but why not say "thanks Pritch, Thanks Carl Leon"

I like Dyer but he was like the Mervyn Day of Chris Powell's era. Fans regularly used to slate him here whilst being ultra respectful to SCP.

Good luck Alex I hope you and Chris are successful in your next venture.

I suspect Dyer isn't being sacked, but his contract isn't being renewed. That probably means he'll officially leave at the end of June, so announcements on the OS will happen then.

All contracts officially end on 30th June, I don't see that as a reason not to announce anything. You don't often hear about the contracts of coaches but clubs have put up released lists of players. We either don't do this or it seems to come much later than other clubs. Same with announcing free transfers coming in, they can be announced before 1st July.

By now the club also used to announce which u18s were getting contracts, which were being released and who the new u18s were. Now we even find out about first team players long before the club mention it when they announce it themselves on Twitter.

Whilst its a marginal difference I think that it is disingenuous to say that Dyer has been sacked when his contract is not being renewed, sacked has negative connotations, that said I agree with Henry that a piece on AD would be welcome.

I was told that Dyer would not be with the club a while ago, although that information was a friend had spoken to him in the car park and he had said he would not be at Charlton. I suspect that he was fully aware of his position from the time CP left but was encouraged to see out his contract and may even have been paid a retention bonus.

It does appear that the club is not being very media savvy.

Best wishes to Alex, wherever he turns up next.
