There is not a lot we can do except wait and see and even if we do get a load of unknown names it won't be until we see them play in a league match that we can judge if RD has made another players cock up or unearthed a set of gems.

None of us know 100% what she is actually doing but her statements have claimed the responsibility of an Iain Moody type role.... getting the deals done once players identified. IMO, that involves business contract skills but also Agent savvy skills. You need to be a face, you need a reputation.
I dont know the merits of Phil Chapple 's scouting ability. Having watched him play, I could not think of a more unlikely scout but that's not necessarily relevant.0 -
Having watched both Maccaiba and Apoel comfortably trashed by Viktoria Plzen in the last couple of years, I do not share your optimism. Furthermore, going back longer, I am struggling to think of a game involving either a club team or the Israeli national team which was remotely exciting. I expect that the timing of the SLP "exclusive" was designed by Morro and his agent to give the club a nudge in the negotiations (not unreasonably, given that he'll be out of contract in 6 weeks). Ditto the coverage on Hamer and Leicester. The problem is, though, that Roland does not seem to be a man amenable or receptive to nudging.
Hopefully, the chief coach/Jose Riga position will be sorted out next week and some sort of accommodation will be reached with Morro. He is a decent Championship centre half, a natural leader and we need experience in that key area (especially if Dervite's move is confirmed). It is also imperative that we have at least one skinhead in defence.
Whilst on the subject of contracts, I think we should be looking to extend Wilson's deal or we may find ourselves in the same position with him next year.
Regardless of who we get in, some level of continuity and experience is essential in this very tough division, especially with so many young players.
I think a number of our supporters (certainly me) are suffering a strange psychotic condition arising out of a combination of football deprivation (no more two games a week) and a form of post-traumatic syndrome following our (ahem) eventful 2013/14 season.

Never any chance of keeping out of contract players with offers on the table from clubs like Leicester and Bolton. If a club comes along and offers Morrison more money than we can afford then he will depart too. Poyet is different. There will be other considerations for him to consider like game time and where he feels comfortable for now but in the end it will be decided by money. My hope for Poyet is that first he sees another season at least with us as beneficial to his progress but if not we can negotiate a loan back. I am not hopeful.1

Poyet would be nuts to sign a contract with us if he has a decent offer from elsewhere. Senior pros leaving on free transfers and the possibility that Riga was let go for refusing to play network players is hardly an alluring prospect for a young player with options.4

From talking to someone in a very good position to know (because they are currently involved on the playing side at the club), money is not the obstacle with Poyet.
