Spain vs Australia for the wooden spoon. Aussies only need a draw. Who'd believe it.

The Chile players appear to have a lot of Columbian in them. What an effort, they haven't stopped running. Superb

Am I the only one that thinks Murphy is a decent co-commentator. Not afraid to say if something is crap and doesn't stick to boring cliches

I don't hate his commentary nearly as much as i'd like to.

Chile were brilliant tonight. The era of Spanish domination is over, I feel.

Good riddance - couldnt stand watching them play their boring tiki taki bollox.
As the commentator eloquently said, 'Spains aesthetic football , or is it anaesthetic' - it certainly used to send me to sleep.

Spain well beaten in the end. A shame to see a great side capable of wonderful football lose comprehensively twice in the group stages but the opposition deserve praise in both cases.

Those Chilean boys tonight showed spirit and unity of purpose from the moment they sung their anthem with gusto until the 96th minute. A real mixture of industry through pressing the Spaniards to stop them playing and flowing football when in possession themselves.

Odds are they will meet Brazil in the next round but if they play with the spirit and lack of fear they showed tonight they might just give yet another shock to a fancied team.

I look forward, probably in vain, to England demonstrating similar motivation tomorrow night.

Can't believe the atmosphere in the BBC studio. Four ex-players all acting as if someone has died. I've not seen so-called professional tv people looking so miserable about a result since Jim Rosenthal had to announce that Millwall had been relegated in 1990. If anything demonstrates that the gulf between the "experts" and the man on the street, it's surely this. I can't believe you could pick four football fans at random and not have at least one (if not all) thoroughly enjoying the schadenfreude of the collapse of champions.

These multi millionnaires with their kids in the most expensive schools living in incredible mansions in gated communities are way, way further out of touch with reality than any politicians.

Quite relieved about that result. Means we wont have play the world cup holders in the latter stages.

If I were Chile I wouldn't be bothered about facing Brasil. They are not that great and will be the team under immense pressure to get through and on their two performances so far Chile can beat them.

Magnificent performance by Chile, who must be a complete nightmare to play against. They are all over the opposition when not in possession and Chile's speed, movement and passing is razor sharp. I like the cut of the manager's jib as well - he seems to epitomise the side's energy and desire. If they play Mexico in the next round, it will be great to watch the two managers on the touch line, both of whom look as if they are about to burst a blood vessel.

It is certainly the end of an era for what was a great Spanish team but nothing lasts forever. There will also be plenty of talent coming through to replace centurions like Alonso, Xavi, Casillas and others.

They've achieved more in 6 years than any other country. They'll be back. Victim of a ridiculous group In a World Cup in which FIFA thinks it's fine to have Switzerland, a bloke and a dog, my nan and Albania as a group competing with three great sides. Viva espana. Chin up Leroy, beaten by better sides on the night

Lots of long faces at work this morming. We'll see if I join them tomorrow. To be honest, last night was like watching the normal England. Lots of past-it and knackered big names. At least for once, we're blooding the youth.

never got the anti tiki taka stuff, go press and get the ball off them.

Their domination of world football has been fantastic for the game. Very positive values of great technique, pass and move, they haven't relied on a superstar scoring spectacular goals or brickwall defending, it's been attacking football all the way. Whoever takes over has a big hole to fill.
