Damage limitation. He looked like a spoilt brat whether the other guy scored or not. When he did score Defoe had a choice - sulk like a brat or cover it up. Wasnt there something similar in a Prem game where someone faked a punch-up when taking a free-kick , and then slotted the ball in the net when the defenders were all staring at them wondering what was going on ?1
