    Haggett's back on.

Why not let Riley bowl at the left handed number 11?

5 wickets for Stevens - again!

From what I can see there were at least 8 (and possibly 9) catches behind the wicket.

Three County Championship wins on the trot. When was the last time we did that?

All the bowlers are doing their bit and almost all the batsman (bar possibly Key) are in some sort of form now.

Not a Kent thing but there is one thing about the modern game that really gets on my XXXX.

And that is, when a fielder takes a catch, instead of lobbing the ball to the umpire, he decides to half volley it away. That's football and not cricket and there is no place for it in the game.

A 10 match ban every time a player does it would soon stop this ugly practice!
  • Anyone know how kent could qualify tonight? It will come down to run rate if the other two teams lose and we win. Not sure how run rate works!

Both sides are currently on 11 points, with Kent hosting already-qualified Surrey, and Somerset hosting eliminated Middlesex, as both need a win to stand any chance. A win for either side will bring them into a Net Run Rate battle with Glamorgan (if they lose), whilst wins for both Kent and Somerset will lead to a three-way battle on 13 points – should Glamorgan lose. If both Kent and Somerset fail to win, Glamorgan will go through whatever the result of their game. Glamorgan currently have the strongest NRR out of those three sides.

A team's net run rate is calculated by deducting from the average runs per over scored by that team throughout the competition, the average runs per over scored against that team throughout the competition.

In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of its net run rate shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed.

Only those matches where results are achieved will count for the purpose of net run rate calculations. Where a match is abandoned, but a result is achieved under Duckworth/Lewis, for net run rate purposes Team 1 will be accredited with Team 2's Par Score on abandonment off the same number of overs faced by Team 2. Where a match is concluded but with Duckworth/Lewis having been applied at an earlier point in the match, Team 1 will be accredited with 1 run less than the final Target Score for Team 2 off the total number of overs allocated to Team 2 to reach the target.

    That's made it clear - hasn't it ;-)

Somerset lose or tie with Middlesex. If Somerset win, Kent could still leapfrog Somerset if we thrash Surrey with a couple of overs to spare or 15-20 runs...

Glamorgan lose to Gloucestershire while Kent beat Surrey would leave it very close between us and the Welsh... :-)
