I tried a chorizo and pepper slice, couscous and Greek salad for £5, purchased from a stall just outside the East Stand turnstiles. It was very good, as was the pint of Ludlow Golden ale from the 'Shack' bar behind the East Stand. That was the first time I have ever bought food at the ground (albeit my mum and dad used to live in Valiant House, so not much call for it). The pulled pork rolls also looked good.
Will certainly try and support the real ale bar at future games.1 -
first visit to the Valley this season so thought we would try the food and wanted the advertised sausage and onions in a bun, trouble was the onions were mixed with red cabbage - yuk! and whilst the people working in the serving areas were very pleasant they were also very slow.0

think I'd have been better off eating the box my cheeseburger came in.4

Definitely going to try stuff from those two places on Tuesday. Was amazed to see them. Not for everybody but those of us who like that sort of food and beer need to support them. The ale/cider bar is a great development, the first time in 22 years at the valley that I actually have something I want to drink!2

Was it real proper green liquor yeah? if so I may be trying that on TuesdayDippenhall said:Seems no one has organised the logistics of how the different meals are served. Before match ordered pie mash and liquor, was probably first customer so no queue. Girl got pie sorted, then got the mash potato squirted on (tastes better than it looks) then a problem - the liquor was in a container in the hot cabinet but she couldn't ladle out the liquor with the container in the cabinet. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts, one girl came over with a cloth to hold the hot container resting half out of the cabinet so a ladle could be used, another girl held the cardboard container holding the pie and mash and a third girl ladled out one ladle of liquor. Only took three minutes!
At £5 I thought it was good value if we are making realistic comparison of venue entertaining, but what a kerfuffle.

Bit annoyed bought a "Steak Pie" as advertised, sat down and realised after the first bite it was "Peppered" Steak pie, i.e. it this makes it rather significantly different from the notice board (I wouldn't have bought if I had known).
I couldn't be arsed to battle back through the hoards, but they should be more careful with their descriptions when they don't include a significant ingredient, its a bit like advertising a vegetable pie and not mentioning the meat.0 -

Not really, not made from eel liquor, pretty pale parsley sauce, but acceptable. Take your own vinegar. Gravy is available as an alternative.

I went to the Burger Bar in the Upper north. Eight staff failing to to give the required attention to half a dozen fans. Massive need for staff training, our old situation was miles better.1

I might be missing something fundamental but it looked to me at the Derby game as if the real ale bar was the ground side of the East Stand turnstiles. How does that work if you sit in the Covered end say?

must admit I'm in the unreconstructed school of thought on this one, I want a (high quality) pint and a pie thanks, in reasonable amount of time for a reasonable price1

Me too. Likewise. Could have done with a little plastic knife to go with the little plastic fork. My beef and onion pie thingy was lovely but difficult to eat. Ended up just picking it up and stuffing it in like the peasant I am! Very salty with all the Feta and Olives.I had to have a drink just to quench my thirst!
The stall next door selling pulled pork beef slice with herbs in an artisan bread (i.e. burger to you and me), or rolled pulled meat with whatever (I,e, hot dog to you and me and crinkled herb encrusted potato splinters or some such (you got it - chips to you and me) for £8.50 wasn't doing very well. Chips looked soggy and the servers were doing a lot of apologising.
Think I'll have the poncy chicken behind the west tomorrow. Had it once before and it was nice. Think it will be back to the chippy before long though as the novelty will all wear off.0 -

That is the main thing that keeps me going back to the east stand rather than the other stands. Having that outside area. It's much more claustrophobic in the other stands.killerandflash said:

I wish they would put steps up to the grass at the top and stick a few tables and chairs up their with the odd umbrella. Make it an area you can smoke in as well.
