What is more likely is that they WERE going to get rid of Bob, but after the news article broke they had to put it off so that they could declare it all as press gossip to save face. They just delayed the decision for a couple of weeks.

Miere and Duchalet do not have a clue about football but that is not the aim of the network. That is to make money. They are business people and you cant say worse than that.

  • I tell you what, some might say, that Slater lied every time his lips moved. Allegedly. I of course would not.

Did you ever see Mickey`s lips move? :)

There is plenty of very admirable stuff in Miere's CV that make her suitable for the role that RD has outlined for her.
It may be that there are some other areas of enterprise within a football club that others would be more suited to, and it is beholden for RD to either address those areas or not bother.

Out of her depth. So obviously a front for Duchalet it is painful. All the wear red stuff was an example ... Charlton are a football club not a infant school
I don't think we know or will ever know if she is out of her depth. She's taken on a role that means she essentially the voice of RD re: all things Charlton. I actually think if you look at her cv she's done well for her age. I remember her saying that she helped RD negotiate tv rights with her hometown club after offering her services to him because it was an area of law she was a specialist in.

Because we are part of a network, we're yet to see what she's made of. Only Vetokele and JBG were transfers outside the network.

I think she's been stitched up a bit re: comments prior to BP getting the sack, but maybe she thought he would still be around after Brighton regardless the result. Maybe RD had discussed it with her, then changed his mind.

Clubs lose money hand over fist in League One. Clubs can make HUGE sums of money in the Premier League. You end up in League One with poor investment in a team, poor choices in managers, poor choices in transfer dealings. You have to invest money to get to the Premier League. You don't need to know much about football to know that.

Throwing random players and managers at a Club and expecting them to succeed doesn't strike me as a particularly sound business model.

Whose carrying out the interview process?
Is RD at Charlton for this?

I felt a bit sorry for her.

She puts out a PR statement trying to lift people and steady the ship and the next day she is made to look silly by Bob being sacked.

Now, it could be that BP was going anyway, she knew and she just lied.

I think it more likely that she either didn't know that was the plan or the decision was made suddenly after Brighton and so events catch up with her. I don't know which.

Welcome to the world of management Katrien. Sometimes your role is to be the flack catcher. You won't be the first Charlton CEO to be left out to dry like this and I doubt you will be the last.

My only hope is that this incident doesn't put you off communicating more often and in more detail. The more times you get it right the less people will comment on the times you don't.

I think this is true. Roly is making her look like an idiot in my opinion. The comments from the program coupled with the sacking of Bob, then the statement from the Club yesterday and the recent info that Luzon is in town for talks seems to show that whilst she is making all the right noises from a fans point of view, she is being completely undermined by decisions from Duchatelet.

Of course it's also possible that Roly asked Meire to merely interview Luzon and other potential candidates will be seen in the coming days/weeks/months. I wonder though who actually gets the final say here, Meire or Duchatelet? It wouldn't surprise me if they decide to see some more potential candidates in the near future knowing that Luzon will get the job anyway, but think they have to see others to pay lip service to the disgruntled fan base. I'm of the opinion it's a done deal and in time, Luzon will be announced as the new man.
'who gets the final say here' See my post on the BP article. Page 14 I think.

Can't see where people get the idea that she's out of her depth. She's doing her job perfectly as her boss wants. She's a mouth piece and part of her role is to lie when required. Unfortunately some people are blinded by looks and charm and think that makes some one more trustworthy.

Or on club statements. Not Luzon's fault but Meire and M. Roly have not covered themselves in any glory with their nonsense to us fans since Saturday.

Agree @Exiled_Addick‌ she is in the classic middle management position - think she is genuine enough and her heart is in the right place, but i doubt she has much of a say in the big decisions. Personally would hate to have Duchatelet as a boss because what he seems to preach and what he practices are the very opposite.

Or on the offical site in fact.

I'm dying to exactly what made Meire decide that ' this appointment is the right one because I understand that this club needs and deserves a Head Coach who can plan and take charge for the long-term', because those are her words that she carefully chose for the press statement after Bob was sacked.

First of all. Which of his credentials persuaded her that she didn't need to see any other candidates because clearly this is the only man in the world that she needed to interview. I also have a VERY different understanding of what the words 'long-term' mean. To me an 18 month contract is short-term.

    Typist.
  • Duchatelet runs the show.
Meire is the puppet with Duchatelet's hand up her backside.
Richard Murray(you are responsible for so many good things to happen at this club) does what?

Meire is told what to do and is taking the flak.

Meire has no say whatsoever in what goes on at this club, certainly on the playing side.
  • She's either a liar, or a fool. Whichever it is, it's worrying.
