And there is where the subjective part comes in to play.Airman Brown said:In my experience, few professional journalists will report things they don't genuinely believe are true.

I agree. They shouldn't be pulling things out their arse, but I just get the feeling the London clubs outside the Prem are a headache for themAirman Brown said:In my experience, few professional journalists will report things they don't genuinely believe are true. What they are often guilty of is running something because it is newsworthy without sufficient verification. The more newsworthy something is the bigger the temptation and hence mistakes get made. Given the Standard don't care about Charlton, I doubt this is made up, but it may not be accurate either.

Have you ever read, as an example, the Europhobic fairy tales in the Daily Mail or Sun?Airman Brown said:In my experience, few professional journalists will report things they don't genuinely believe are true. At least it wasn't Di Canio. Now I don't have to give my season ticket back.0

Katrien does know Sir Alex Ferguson was allowed to pick his own team, decide on transfer targets, players and staff and was given longer than six months does she? Oh, and he had experience of managing a British clubs before he joined Manchester United.3

To be fair, I think the analogy was more to do with how much time he spent at Man United rather than comparing him as a manager.0

So just delusional thenWestCountryAddick said:To be fair, I think the analogy was more to do with how much time he spent at Man United rather than comparing him as a manager.

Even worse, why couldn't she have said 'he could be our own Billy McKay' or whoever that Watford manager was who lasted 2 daysWestCountryAddick said:To be fair, I think the analogy was more to do with how much time he spent at Man United rather than comparing him as a manager.

That's a fair point, but that's propaganda rather than journalism, in my opinion.AddicksAddict said:

Point taken Airman. There may have been a certain element of 'spin' involved. Lies however, definitely not. Either way, I didn't consider myself to be a journalist.Airman Brown said:The Red Robin said:

Don't believe I have posted anything libellous (sp?) so go ahead ( my pasting skills are for wallpaper only)HandG said:Fanny, if I were you I'd copy and paste your brilliant post word for word and email it directly to to KM. It sums up perfectly how many of us are feeling and I'd be intrigued by her response.
And if you don't want to send it over, is it all right if I do? :-)
But I feel it would be appropriate to do so saying that this is a post on a Charlton forum that you feel hits the spot?
Those who read CL at the Club are invariably aware who I am but best keep it anonymous please ie "a contributor to a Charlton forum "
And I'm humbled by your reaction TBH. I'm only saying what I believe a lot of Addicks are thinking.
Fanny, my tongue was rather in my cheek when I made that request and I certainly wouldn't pretend they were my words if I were to send them on! I've noted your comments though and, given that we've been told what sounds like more porkies today (re more interviewees), I would be even more interested to hear what KM has to say. I suspect it may be a pointless gesture though......0 -
He is saying that he has never heard of Riga who had just been appointed Charlton manager (you can judge for yourself if it is in a mocking style). At the time players from his club had already been interacting with Charlton. he later says he is not interested in, or doesn't care about Charlton.Callumcafc said:

In todays press conference he sits up straight and says he is well aware about, and knowledgeable about Charlton because of his past dealings, which were from January 2014. The video is from March 2014.
Some may muse as to whether this is a man of integrity and honesty in relation to his connection with our club. I think the stuff makes him look a bit suspect.

I appreciate he,s only just walked in the door, but he surely expected that interview and those questions would be posed in the interview. In which case it was a pretty poor show, and has done nothing to infuse any enthusiasm into me.
If that's was a job interview he,d be unemployed now, as opposed to being unemployed in May.2 -
One very plausible explanation is that he woke up in a parallel universe.RaplhMilne said:I appreciate he,s only just walked in the door, but he surely expected that interview and those questions would be posed in the interview. Don't like the guy for his outing of a fan in Isreal for one of his teams there, literally shouting at the lad . Looks arrogant as fuck too. Watching that it doesn't have the feel of a head coach of the football club I support, just someone thrown into a job.7
-
A bit irrational and without justification of any kind but I have an instinct of dislike for the guy. Just seems a bit smarmy and shallow. But I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now.1

Thats good news.Danny Addick said:I'm upset that we were duped into thinking that other managers would be considered. However, I do actually think he'll be quite good (as long as he's given long enough!)
So relieved he has you seal of approval.0 -
I am pleased for you.Rob said:I can't understand people being pissed off. Get behind the team FFS. If this bloke is the dogs bollox you'll all be licking his arse soon anyway. Let's give him a chance.
Is it the Belgium/foreign thing that people just don't like? I just don't get the negativity. Sorry.
If you are not unhappy and cannot see the problems at the club then fair enough.0 -

Just seen that interview for the first time
He didn't do too bad for someone operating in their (very) 2nd choice language
The reference to Premiership football was poor but otherwise no dramas
He is young though

I found his body language very confusing. I felt unsettled watching the interview.Sillybilly said:A bit irrational and without justification of any kind but I have an instinct of dislike for the guy. Just seems a bit smarmy and shallow. But I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

@seth plum I found that very interesting myself. At one time I could understand a bit of French, but the subtleties of that are above me. Perhaps a fluid french speaker can translate the text to English (there are French subtitles, so long as you enable them with the cc button). Anyone?0
