Traffic lights

Being a bit bored with the witty 'Charlton have let me down and I'm going to be whimsical' threads I thought I'd see if anyone shares my feelings about traffic light sequences.

Currently it's red, red and amber, green, amber, red.

I think it should be red, green, amber, red. Thus stopping the jumping of reds from stationery vehicles.

What do you think? Is this worth a Government petition?

Thank you.

I was referring to vehicles from Staples, Ryman and WH Smith.

This is a market economy, abolish all traffic lights, zebra crossings, roundabouts, indeed all traffic regulations .. he with the biggest, meanest vehicle wins .. I got a Challenger tank .. OK ??????
  • What gets me is that it seems like every weekend i am replacing the lights in my ceiling, but i never see any individual traffic lights that have burnt out.

I don't particularly care, I'm a cyclist so it makes no odds what colour they are :-)

I think they were made of paper.
Anyway OP's idea would save a bit on electricity - not having two bulbs on at once.

Traffic lights are a nice idea, it's a pity hardly anyone seems to know how they're meant to drive in the presence of them.

My main gripe with them is that 9 out of 10 traffic-light controlled junctions I go through regularly would be much better as roundabouts. As for roundabouts that are also controlled by traffic lights...whoever came up with that gem should be shot, then shot again.

What an utterly delightful thread. Sitting here at work contemplating my navel, bored and pissed off that I now don't seem to support a serious football team (did I ever...?).

    Traffic Lights, hmmm!

My 5 year old Nephew is obsessed with them but he's Scottish!
