He's 27. On the cusp age wise.

We can probably do better (younger), would not expect him to be as good as, say, Diarra. And would hate it if Jordan was dropped for him.

So, as a squad player? Maybe. But perhaps a younger player would be a better option, having a better sell on value.

At least has the sort of experience we should be looking for.

I thought Igor de Camargo was 31 years old?

I've heard Ed Miliband, Nick Clegg and Nigel Farage are all free agents, thoughts?

Miliband on the left wing with Farage far right.

Clegg can train with the U18s.
  • Just seen Austin has been released by Leeds, from what we saw at The Valley, I'd take him as a free!

Be interested to know why he's been released, the performance against us may have been a one off.

Based in Yorkshire, I know a few Leeds fan. He very much divides opinion, seems to at least put 100% effort in. They were not impressed with his passing though, just his tackling is meant to be decent and scores great goals but rare, think Racon in that sense.

Thought it may well have been a one off, seeing as they are releasing him. His passing actually looked pretty good that game.

I know we have Cousins/Diarra as holding players, but it's a long season and I'd like to see us get a third player in this position, particularly with suspensions and injuries potentially taking their toll. Would give us the flexibility of lining up with 4-2-3-1 too, depending on the oppo.

Vinícius Araújo is a 22 year old striker who is playing for Standard.
He is so tall that his picture looks like this on the liege website.
Do we need him or is he a headless chicken ?

The passing bit suprises me, When he played CDM at the valley he was dictating play, spraying 50-60 yard passes like it was nothing, guess consistency could be an issue, but the workrate if you combined him with cousins would be incredible through the middle.

He seemed to spray passes out to the left with no problem but struggled anything to the right.

Ipswich Town have let go Noel / Stephen Hunt along with Paul Anderson, Darren Ambrose and Richard Chaplow.

Ignoring Darren Ambrose I wonder if anyone thinks that Paul Anderson could do a possible job for us, he's got good Championship experience with both Nottingham Forest and Ipswich (something the squad needs) and would be good backup for Johann Gudmundsson being a step up from Lawrie Wilson?

Thought Paul Anderson played well in play off game Saturday, definitely a hard worker going by that game.

He scored the Ipswich goal in the first leg and seems quite a good guy judging by this

Christian Benteke. You can laugh, but you heard it here first.

    Presumably because he's Belgian...

Is that wishful thinking or genuine info ?

Neither. In the grand tradition of these threads I just made something up.

I'm sorry. I feel bad now.

    some decent goals

He was sold by Liege last summer for something like €7m to a club in Qatar. They then loaned back to Liege in January so he was part of the reason Riga (and predecessor) turned things around.

Well RD has the contact and the cash so anything is possible but...

The point is there has to be a atom of a chance of it coming to fruition.

Be like a CAFC player comparing himself to Messi ?

Dean Furman has been released by Doncaster Rovers. Don't know whether anybody saw his ability in the Championship with them in the 2013-2014 season but from what I saw of him playing for South Africa he seemed to control the midfield quite well, even against Spain's high profile team. He started most of the games for them this season and refused an extension in order to try play in a higher league. Has he got something to offer or is he too similar to what we have already?

I can't see Charlton ever having success with South African players.
