    Charles-Cook is a midfielder

Gomez could play CB or RB(played some games at RB in youth games)
Fox can play LB Or CB (played games at CB for U21)

Has Regan Charles-Cook ever played at RB for the Academy side ?
Have seen him 4 or 5 times now and only ever seen him mid field.

I have only ever seen him play midfield. He is an intelligent player and tracks back well when playing in midfield so could probably do a job. It's not his natural position though so we are back to square pegs and round holes.

I'm quietly confident that the club doesn't own any pegs and the only holes are pot and found in the carpark

Colin, at 10.34 you questioned whether we were ever in for Lenglet and by 12.05 you said he had talks with us.

You are Katrien & I claim my £10.

So do I . Presumably, the talks took place between 10.34 & 12.05 today ? Alternatively, one of your statements must be wrong.

He was meant to be driving those 3 players up from Bournemouth too!
  • If after all this we don't bring in another right back it will make letting Lawrie Wilson leave a bit silly

Think we could get by with signing just 1 more player now, CB/RB cover. A winger/pacey forward would be icing on the cake.

Rafael going from utd to Lyon for £2.5M
Maybe we can hijack the deal?

Are you happy with the goalkeeping situation then? Pope and Mitov until Henderson comes back. I assume we are not signing Taylor

6 days from the start of the season and we have 1 Right back who has dodgy knees. Don't want Cousins or Charlie Cook or any one else playing there who is not a bona fide right back. The problems we had at Left back until fox stepped up when Rhoys was out of the team by playing right footed players there over 2 seasons. Gomez had his worst ever game for CAFC at LB.
So keep the rumours coming for the RB, if not why not ?

were you at Bolton on Friday? if you were then you would have seen an assured performance from Charles-Cook at right back
I was. He a had a good game, but you could see he was not a natural right back. His positioning along with diarra on that side of defence was all over the place at times. He also gave far too much space to the Bolton winger at times. Saying all that he was tenacious, energetic and I can't really remember him making a mistake. Just think against a quality winger in a competitive match he would of been shown up.

I think tarriq came on at right back as berdych came on at the same time. But that was when the formation went a bit wibbly wobbly as berdych was pushing up much higher.

You can't keep players you'd like to improve on just in case you don't find a replacement.

How can you improve on a back up right back?

With a young player that's happy to fight for his place and has potential to improve?

No where near good enough for the first team yet!

Or could have a player of the year runner up and is a pretty decent player?

Also what youth player are you talking about? We are currently playing a winger fullback as cover.

I liked Wilson a lot, but he had clearly lost confidence and a fresh start was best for all. I would like some right back cover, however

I agree he's decent but I wouldn't say that's good enough for where we want to be.

I'm not talking about a youth player, I expect our cover (if we manage to sign someone) will be a younger player to challenge Solly.

Actually Watt is very quick running with the ball, a bit like Claus Jensen with the ball at his feet.

Just to add Romandahl was lightening quick but with the ball he was running in quick sand

I heard a rumour that come deadline day we will be told that "we were close to a couple of signings but we couldn't quite get them over the line"

You don't need to be sub 11 secs to play up front in the Championship.
You need it over 10 yards plus the change of pace to unsettle defenders. I believe Watt has that and a lot more to his game.

    I reckon I'm sub 11 seconds over 10 yards :-)

I get what you're saying though - Watt has a gift when he runs past defenders. There really could be a brilliant player there if he gets his head down and works his arse off
