Should have brought Sanchez on to steady the ship. Otherwise, we all thought this would be a tough start to the season, so 4 pts is great.8

Well happy with that, away point against a team like Derby always a great result and another goal for Tony Watt, his confidence must be sky high.1

Wasn't there, but would like to know about the kind of impact Mackienok had on the game. I would guess that away at Derby is a tough ask in this league, and we were far from mashed and beaten up, we had previously lost 8 and drawn 3 away in the league at Derby since a 2-0 win in the Premier League days. Lost the previous four or five in a row up there. has to be a very good result whichever way it is sliced.
Their guys said we were dead on our feet near the end which might be a worry, perhaps as a team we lack fitness? I don't know.
Pretty content and satisfied tonight. Well done to Guy Luzon, all the players, and the travelling support, who could be heard quite a lot.2 -

Sounded like a cracking game on player. There goal begun from a free kick that shouldn't of been given according to the commentators. Defenders played really well, as did pope by the sound of things. Bring on hull next Saturday when I'll be back home and in the covered end singing my heart out for the boys!!3

Tough match. Would have taken 1-1 at the start of the game and it was well deserved in the end. Bauer was fantastic and Kashi broke up so many attacks. Our midfield had plenty of energy and with Watt on form up front we always had a chance of scoring. Makienok very much dividing opinions, did a lot of good defensive work but didnt ever look like scoring. Great start to the season.9

Back in the Brunswick for a cleansing ale after a tense last 30 minutes.
They had a lot of possession, particularly towards the end but I think we thoroughly deserved this point. The team was very well organised and we restricted Derby to very few chances. As a couple of Derby old timers remarked on the way out, "Charlton are a good football team - they made us play in front of them all the time."
On top of that, we carried a real threat on the break with Watt, Gudmundsson (who had a quiet game but two excellent efforts in the second half) and Makienok, who flicked on some excellent headers and whose pass put Tony Watt in space for the goal. When you have that menace as the away team, it makes a really big difference to the whole psychology of the game.
I thought that Diarra and Bauer were excellent and Nicky Pope was comfortable and confident throughout. A good show from Foxy, up against Ince, and Solly was tidy, although Derby troubled us a bit down that side.
Kashi was always available but not as dominant as last time out and Jordan was his usual highly energetic self.
All in all, a very satisfying afternoon and a great away trip. Well done to Guy Luzon and the boys.31 -

Tom Ince more like Tom Daly. Could only keep our pressing game going for 45 mins. Early season though.
Derby are no mugs and and as soon as we conceded possession their quality showed. Don't write them off.
Superb defensively don't think we lost a defensive header, bodies put on the line time and again. Ran the mid field while Cousins had a full tank.
Derby backs probably best in division apart from us, struggled with Makionok in the air but snuffed out most ground attacks except full frontal raids from Watt.
Pope faultless handling, kicking like my golf, odd hook odd slice and enough down the middle.
Can't remember enjoying a game so on edge for 90 minutes, a real contest between two committed teams. Sounded like we had 2,000 there. Derby fans stunned into silence by control and confidence we showed until we tired and they scored.

Excellent point against a good Derby side. Out run in midfield at times with 3v2 but fair play to Kashi and Cousins who run their wotsits off.
The back four and Pope was superb. Bauer off the line, Diarra great block 2nd half, Fox best game in a Charlton shirt.
Excellent run from Watt and a deserved bit of luck with the deflection.
The Dane up front imo should have put us 2 up and like last week got better as the game went on. Would have left him on especially as he never lost a header when defending corners.
Derby was a country mile better than QPR

All in all a good point against a reasonably good Derby side. They had the majority of the possession but struggled to break us down until Martin turned in the box and fired low beyond the reach of Pope. Our goal was deflected after good work from Makienok to set up Watt.
Diarra and Bauer are both very good defenders and Pope did nothing wrong (apart from 2 dodgy kicks) so defensively we should be OK this season. Kashi and Cousins didn't do badly individually but still struggled to restrict their midfield directed by Thorne. Ceballos did little (I'll try to forget that corner ever happened) and JBG only got into the game in the second half, going on one good run before firing wide. Watt was good without being spectacular and I thought Makienok did well. One or two touches didn't go where they were meant to but he won almost every header, particularly when we were defending corners. He and Watt showed signs of building an understanding which could have seen us nick a win - he drilled a shot straight at the keeper after Watt had set him up.
A win would have been unjust though. Defensively we earned our point, but needed a bit of luck to secure it.

Along with Watt, I think the key to this teams chances could be getting Igor back. Only two weeks away apparently so sounding positive. With Igor not being relied upon as the sole source of goals he won't get burned out - we could easily get 35 goals between the two of them with Makienok being the support man to lay on and create chances for them (and chip in with 5-10). Combine that with having a solid back 4 (5 including Ahmed) and we have a real chance of getting amongst the top 8.6

Derby were 4-2-3-1 and Charlton 4-4-1-1 as expected, with TWWW dropping off as the fifth midfielder.
A good tactical plan by the Head Coach and some exceptional defending by the B4 collectively and individually. Diarra with a couple of brilliant blocks; Bauer with a fantastic last ditch clearance off the line; Fox & Solly both defended the flanks well against dangerous opponents. Particularly Solly who had to deal with Russell and the over-lapping Forsyth, who ran off Gudmundsson for fun to over-load our right back area throughout the game.
Kashi did an excellent defensive job in midfield but after breaking up the play in the midfield third, but as a team we gave the ball back too easily, particularly in the first half, when our passing was poor and there was no hold up play in the front line. In the second half, we looked more effective when we won possession and launched a number of dangerous counter attacks, instead of trying to pass our way out. Gudmundsson curled just wide from the edge of the box, Big Mak shot straight at the keeper when well placed and headed just over and King Tony got the goal with a right foot shot on the run.
Overall, we looked well organised, worked very hard and dug-in when we had to.
This may well be the hardest earned point of the season.

'Everything was there but the result. You have to give credit to Charlton for creating a red brick wall. They defended like it was a cup final. Last ditch defending at its best.
They were lucky with the goal and that just made them even more stubborn. It was hard for Derby as it was but that lucky goal made it a huge task'12
