Remember him doing well at the end of the season for Wigan, scored a few free kicks I seem to remember. Would be fairly pleased if he signed.1

That's it I'm off up the training ground now, in case he forgets and leaves another Range Rover behind.23

Pennant possibly could be in one or two frames of mind .. possibly I repeat:
1) Looking for a decent sized club where he can do the minimum on a short contract to boost his bank balance (rumour has it he's a BIG spender, like leaving a Porsche in a French car park and forgetting all about it .. supposedly)
or 2) Knowing he is in the last chance saloon and is prepared to give it a right good go for a good club who will treat him well if he gets stuck in and will bring 'lots to the party'
He's decent player on his day and on that day would be a good signing for us provided the wages were within reasonable bounds and he was in the latter state of mind6 -

Sign him up for 1 year Charlton, his 32 now hopefully his head is screwed on now and he can show people what he is capable of.1

Does this count as a VG exclusive!?!ValleyGary said:Pinch of salt time but heard that Jermaine Pennant is due in for a trial with us at Sparrows Lane tomorrow.

Can he play right back?2

Would rather Jermaine Jackson - and he must be 60 by now.
In terms of dedication and commitment to hard work Pennant makes Marcus Bent look like Sir Steven Redgrave.8 -

Signed for them at the end of February and scored 3 goals in 13 games. Turned down a new contract with them. He could be decent back up for us, but i don't see him in our first XI.
His wife isn't too shabby though.

He says all the right things in this article. Worth a go if he's stayed fit:

“After I left Stoke last January, I quickly realised that it wasn’t my football ability that was in question but my character." To me, the fact that he is willing to accept this suggests that he is on the right track. The fact that he seemed to do okay at Wigan last season as well means I think he's worth a punt. We lack natural wide players.3

according to the 'Mirror Poll' .. 2 out of 3 voters would not want him at their club .. no indication if those who expressed a preference were supporters of Arsenal, Accrington Stanley or any other club1

Don't be jealous mate. Do you think she will hang around Pennant when he's picking up £50 a week playing for some non-league team?dickplumb said:Bloody hell.
Anyway back on thread. No we don't want Pennant. There's a certain type of player we should be going after eg a young Kinsella or a good old pro like Mendonca. Proper Charlton. Somehow I don't think JP comes into that mould.0 -
No doubt he has, or at least had, the talent to be a real threat at our level.
But on what planet do people think that the multi-millionaire Jermaine Pennant, who's been living the top-level footballer lifestyle for as long as he has, is ever going to have the hunger or desire to put in any sort of consistent performance week in week out. Be serious.3 -
is she a plastic pennant ?The Red Robin said:
