I loved the way Simon drew two defenders to him on the last goal, but rose up over them to deliver it perfectly to an unmarked Johann. Just his presence alone causes opposing defenders to make mistakes, keep up the fantastic play!
  • Also a great through ball to KAG who just failed to get past Dawson, otherwise he'd have been clean through on goal.

Much rather a big man up front. I don't care if he doesnt score at all just the shear presence of a big old unit up top that offers a great contribution means the goals can come from elsewhere. He could become a cult hero. It's when players like him leave you really miss them because they leave a big hole in the side.

One thing I found quite amusing on Saturday: I was sitting dead opposite the tunnel and could see one of our coaching staff demonstrating to SM on how to perform the tunnel jump..........

As much as I love the nickname big mak I think I am going to refer to him as Crazy Horse.

It reminds me a little bit of a foal when his legs are all bandy and all over the place and I think it's safe to say we would all agree he is as mad as a box of frogs.

So welcome to the club Crazy Horse

Fair enough, I have decided to call him Victor after the Giraffe.

'Cos he runs like a Giraffe.

    Boom, Bingo, nailed it.

  • Just watched his interview. Absolutely love this guy already. He has come to us at the perfect time. Having had such a tough year, he will be extremely grateful and hungry to be a success at this football club and is already offering a whole new dimension to our play. Add that to his desire to keep on fighting even though things weren't going for him at all in the first twenty or so minutes. I think we have a new cult hero on our hands.

Hope to hear you singing this at the Rotherham game!
Your talent is wasted! Really great lyrics - well done!

Cant take all the credit - someone put the first chorus up on twitter but it needed a little bit of crafting.
  • All too complicated...

The theme from the Vikings film, was a Millwall song. They would do the musical bit , with The Lions, The lions , then more musical bit before the end with a big shout of WAR !

Short comments from Makienoks agent Michael Stensgaard in the Danish press, thought I'd translate it for you guys.

    http://www.bold.dk/nyt/agent-charlton-bygger-spillet-op-om-makienok

According to agent Michael Steensgaard, Simon Makienok's success at Charlton has much to do with the team, building the game around the tall targetman.

Simon Makienok has had a decent start to his arrival at Charlton. It has brought several strong performances, and in the past weekend, the first goal came.

Makienok's success is, according to his agent, a result of the striker, playing a central role in the team's style of play.

    - After a tough year, he's arrived at a place, where people really believe in him, and it's a place where he fits into the style of play. They built him up during the preseason, so that he was set from the start, hopefully there will be more.

    - It is certain that Charlton builds it (the game) around Simon's strengths and qualities, and I think that is really important.

Makienok is only on loan at Charlton, and there have not yet been any negotiations with a view to sign the former Brøndby-player on a permanent deal.

    - We have a good dialogue with Charlton, and so we must look at it later, regarding what will happen. Now, Simon first of all concentrates on doing as good a job as possible, and then we might see, where we end up, says Steensgaard.

Charlton is in third place after four rounds of games in the Championship.

Hopefully today marked a turning point in Simon's fortunes. Was a real thorn in Rotherham's spine - and was absolutely hated by their supporters - a real 'big man's' performance. If he can replicate that sort of performance for the rest of the season, will put us in a very good position.
Credence must go to Simon for continuing to work hard, despite being mocked by some supporters, hopefully he can continue to prove the doubters wrong.

He was more aggressive today and Rotherham hated it. More of the same next week please Big Mak
  • His second.
  • Just put my comments about his performance today on the Player Marks but really hope he isnt injured.

Looked a right handful up front with Vetokele and can see a great partnership building between them... He looked like a Championship Striker today, one who likes to get in the opposition faces and make their lives a misery (up until now he's seemed too frightened of them), would certainly keep him beyond this season on that showing

All we need is someone to wind him up every week!

Two great goals today, let's hope he keeps it up!

Confidence and JBG feeding him = good player

Riga giving him that confidence? Don't know but glad he's back.
