Immense today. Tormented the Rotheram players and fans, a complete and utter nightmare. Roundly booed by 100000 Rotherham fans and he beautifully celebrated his s cond goal right in front of them. He is a great player that needs to be man aged and played correctly and Jose us the man to do that.

I suspect it is not a confidence thing but coaching. Doubt Riga, Moobs or Jason could teach him that aggressive English game that but perhaps Rojo was money well spent after all. Sarr next?

Think he just wanted to fight everyone today, players, ref, fans of both sides. If fighty Simon scores two goals every week he can jump in the Charlton end and individually call every single person in the stand a c*nt for all I care, as long as the performances back up the attitude.

Think it was fair dos for him to give a bit back this week. Wasn't exactly the most controversial celebration - hardly pulled an Adebeyor. Would probably be better for him in the long run if he draws a line under it now and does his talking on the pitch. Hopefully the morons who have been on his back will do the same and lay off him now.

Calls me c*nt I'll floor him.

He has been slaughtered by a number in the upper north. Every touch, every header won ironically jeered.

He is well within his rights to give some back today.

He was fired up today and looked 100% the player I hoped he'd be.

He is clearly and emotive person. If posturing and sneering gets the best out of him then its alright by me.

He's looked a better player since he had his hair cut
  • Don't you think that Simon has probably said that he hates the constant abuse that the fans having been giving him?

And Jose has said to him, "Use it, and give it back just as bad"?

Good man management. Wind him up, and let him go...

So pleased for Simon. And let's recognise the influence of Igor, too - a key man, who brings out the best in others. The merry-go-round Head Coach farce has impacted negatively on the team, and has probably affected some players more than others. It's likely that Jose Riga has instilled in Simon a confidence that hitherto was suppressed. Well done, Simon, well done all.

As Riga said, what I know about Simon is that he has the right mentality. (Up for it)

    Something like that anyway.

They really hated him, well done Simon. Not sure what the precise attendance was but Big Mak was assuredly booed by every single Rotherham fan. Good work Simon! MOM too.

In the top scorer for the season thread, I said he'd get 10 :open_mouth: Go Simon baby go!
  • I hope we have the pleasure of big si playing for us next year!

Not to just pick on you but it makes me laugh how almost everyone on here seems to change their mind after one game.
One minute he's the worst striker we've ever had and the next we are all praying we sign him in the summer!

Not me Josh I always knew he was going to be the dogs
  • There's no doubting SM has ability, we've become such a circus this season, and he had become a consequence of that, can we just all please put our differences and opinions apart and just encourage and support him and the team please, I don't want to go back to league one.

Almost as if we're all individuals with our own views.

SOME fans were slating him, not all, SOME have changed their views, not all

Absolute master class from the big man yesterday. Not just his goals but his contribution to defending set pieces is absolutely vital.
  • Sounds like the Mak I saw early in the season. I liked what he did then and if he can repeat that then he'll be vital to us in our difficult fight.

Fair point. I've always liked Mak ever since my son had hos pic taken with him after the Dagenham game.

Cupping both ears to the fans while wildly celebrating says to me: "I'm soaking up the adulation, let me hear you now, boo boys!" - almost a positive statement.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs, but think there is a difference between that, and the 'shhhh' gestures given to us by two of the worst cafc strikers ever - Dave Mooney and Simon Church. That's more directly telling the fans to f**k off, despite them being completely cack for months and months.

But I suppose none of it really matters in the grand scheme of things anyway.

Simon Church's "sshhhh" after scoring a tap in against Walsall in the league cup, ridiculous!

I haven't read this thread but was he getting peleters from the Cahrlton end before he scored yesterday ? Big ironic cup of the ear when he scored.

He wasn't really, maybe a couple of idiots but nothing like the ironic cheers he's been getting when he wins the ball in previous matches.

You sound just like my old dad

Next, you'll be saying a spell in the army wouldn't do him any harm either
  • Just give our players a proper chance like we used too, we moan about the regime taking the heart from our club, well our club was made on fans and players relationships, we knew who we were they knew that we were with them so they tried as hard as they could let's get back to that

Hope it's a move on moment for all parties. Big Mak has taken some flack at home this season, unfairly in my opinion, that celebration and his face after had a lot of built up 'f*** you' in it.

Lawrie Wilson similarly reacted at first to the 'used to be shite' song, but got through it and ended up embracing it. Big Mak can still be a decent player for us, hope that is it with the ironic cheers now.
