That sums up my feelings to a tee.daveaddick said:shine166 as the Queen has no re constitutional power why would we need to elect her ? I have no particular affinity to the monarchy but the achievement is remarkable and he Queen has represented out country brilliantly over 63 years.
Congratulations to her all respect
Well done, Your Majesty.3 -
Congratulations on err...not dying.8

Well done indeed.
I always worry when people start tempting fate by celebrating these occasions early!
Relieved she made it.0 -

If her only contribution is to once a year dictate to the nation about austerity, while sat on a golden chair.. Maybe it's time to scrap the royals ?. I understand they are good for tourism, but so is a museum or theme park

I love the royals I love the Queen
One of the greatest things about us as a country and nation
God bless queenie reign as long as you feel able8 -
Although I agree with the sentiment, it seems a bit crass to say anything other than "well done" todayshine166 said:daveaddick said:shine166 as the Queen has no re constitutional power why would we need to elect her ? Who knows what gender George will choose to identify with when he's older? It's the 21st century for god sake.kings hill addick said:
No. They changed the rules of succession so that the first born will take the throne, not the first born boy. Thus, even though it is Charles, William then George if George's first born is a girl then she would be Queen. I suspect that none of us will see that, however.Chizz said:
Let me clarify that. Will she be the UK's last female monarch?Chizz said:Is she likely to be the last Queen?

I reached the milestone age of 60 just over a month ago and its incredible to note that the Queen has been on the throne for the whole of my life and then some. All of those years she has been a constant, reassuring, regal and heart-warming presence through much tumult and change. I am all for royalty and the immediate royal family (although I do think the list of hangers on needs some pruning) - long live her Majesty, I hope she continues to reign in good health and happiness.4

The Thames Flotilla was a righ old anticlimax.0

God bless her and may she reign for many years to come.0

God bless yer mam.
And feck off and die anyone who says anything against her (note. Her NOT the rest of them...)0 -
I'd say congrats for living to 100, not for 63 years in the easiest gig going.se9addick said:

Yeah, if she lives to be 100 she'll get a birthday card from the Queen. If that doesn't motivate her to last that long I don't know what will.shine166 said:

When they changed the law on gay marriage did it apply to the royal family?
If young George gay married a bloke would we have two kings?
How would it work?2 -
His husband would be a prince consort. I'm not sure what would happen if they adopted children and whether they would be in line for the throne? As I'm sure it would pass to his younger sister and her children..smudge7946 said:When they changed the law on gay marriage did it apply to the royal family?

The wedding would be interesting. George would be head of the church, but wouldn't be allowed to get married in one.kentaddick said:

I'm sure if he was head of the church, he would be. Plus I'm hoping by that time attitudes towards gay marriage would be the same as attitudes to gay people are now, for the most part very positive, even from religious communities.smudge7946 said:

But as the Royal family converted to Islam in 2028 and the boyfriend is Jewish I can still see a few difficultieskentaddick said:

Adoption would be the tricky one, as I guess they aren't of 'royal blood' but are part of the royal family.0

Do you mean succession? Although perhaps you were referring to an LGBT secession, such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gay_and_Lesbian_Kingdom_of_the_Coral_Sea_Islands1
