Don't fret, that nice Mr Murray assured us that the club had woken up to the fact that overseas players take time to adjust to the pace of English football, so he'll be up and running in time for the Division 1 opener in August.IT_Andy said:Still concerned about signing a player who doesn't have experience of championship or League1 football. He may take time to settle in and by then it will be too late to save us. We badly need a LB aswell so hopefully that can be done aswell.

Transfermarkt reckon his current worth is $1.05m, depending on your exch rate worth around £750,000.
If that is a true valuation - should be decent at least. But I thought that about Saar, hope he plays on Saturday - Jorge I mean.
Whatever the result Saturday I shall be protesting.
Welcome to the Valley Jorge.2 -
This is worse than the time we signed Jeffers for £2.6m.2

We tried all the goalkeepers, we tried all the strikers, now RD's next plan is to try all the defenders.iamdan said:Hendo

Circumstantially this is a Riga driven signing which augers well. He hits the ground running and it will be a baptism of fire with goal hanger Rhodes to keep an eye on this Saturday.
With Bauer going under the knife, it will probably be Johnson who partners him initially given his experience. Solly despite his indifferent form is the best RB we have and that now leaves the left back slot between THD, Fox & Lennon. One of them needs to up their game in training pdq to convince Riga they are the best option because if he is to be allowed another signing, I am sure he would prefer this to be a creative midfielder rather than a left back.
I stated a week or two ago that clean sheets are going to have to be the bedrock of survival and hopefully this signing will be a major building block.
Welcome Jorge, best of luck and at least Nabby won't have to sit in the dressing room in his own little world, with his headphones on, now that he has a former Lisbonite to bond with.4 -
Nice to see the board have taken criticism from the fans on board.....4

Sarr is french mate, he already has Diarra and BaRedChaser said:Circumstantially this is a Riga driven signing which augers well. He hits the ground running and it will be a baptism of fire with goal hanger Rhodes to keep an eye on this Saturday.

Four and a half years for 29 year old. Ffs is this corrupt or incompetence?0

Opening of the January transfer window on Charltonlife: "We need players with Championship experience."
Announcement of new signing that no-one has heard of from Standard Liege on the 19th Jan: "On the face of it this is exactly what we need."8 -

I've been reliably informed from sources close to the club shop that they put in the request for a players with an "X", "Z" or "Q" in their names to try and shift some of the excess shirt letters in stock. Expect a "Zapatista" and "Quaresma" to follow.8
-
Same club shop source that tipped me off to "Vaz-te" too, so there you go.
Also, apparently there's tonnes of "X's", so they insisted on an 8 year contract for Jorge, in an effort to sell shirt names over time.
There is a strategy to our signings, believe me (or don't!).1 -

Fair point actually.

It seems even the OS cannot make up it's mind how long the contract is, Olly says 3.5 and George Jones says 4.5, come on Olly get it sorted, which is it? mind you, the chance of him seeing it out, no matter how long, will be a surprise0

The time we signed Jeffers was great.Callumcafc said:This is worse than the time we signed Jeffers for £2.6m.
It's his time with us from then that was bad!!

Posting without reading the whole thread, basically because I am numb to all this shit going on at this club now and have plenty of other shite in my life to be gettng on with...
The only contribution I can make to this debate is Teixeria? that's a hell of a scrabble score!4 -
A fly round s**t?
Should fit in well.1 -
I don't know how good this player is, but it was a priority position for us with Bauer out for a while. At least it shows we are going to try not to be relegated. I wasn't so sure to be honest!3

Can anyone confirm that he hates Millwall ?4

"I do not want to play in Division One unless it means we can at last beat Millwall"

Steady on SHG....with posts like that, you're putting yourself in the frame to become our new chief scout.ShootersHillGuru said:9 -
Atrocious defending for all of those.ShootersHillGuru said:
He doesn't look like he's very agile.
He does, however, look like he can head a ball with purpose, power and direction. Jury out on how well he can jump. Timing is decent it seems...
Doesn't look blessed with pace, based on the way he starts to accelerate (wastes an awful lot of energy moving his body side to side from a starting position, rocking his hips sort of, rather than putting all his power into the legs and moving forward with acceleration).
Hopefully isn't atrocious himself.3 -
Looks very decent in the air.1
-
Don't think he'd be signing if Karel was still in charge.0
-
Good in the air, now all we need to is actually cross the fecking thing.
Beggers can't be choosers i suppose3
