Rotherham have already lost a striker today - albeit their choice, they wont lose another one. It's all a load of crap!

As for Fanni - he's 34 for Christ sake!! We don't need fanni, young or old - although how our club works right now........he'll probably bag himself a 4 and a half year deal.

At the moment, I'd take a old Fanni

with regards to Fanni, as much as the age thing (and the name :-) ) bothers me a little we need cover for Solly. I'm surprised he has lasted this long what with his knee issues.

Why would we be at the front of the queue for the Danish lad when his club is owned by the same mob as Brentford?

We're not. Roland and Katrien do this every transfer window - leak to Rich Cawley and co that we're trying to make some top drawer signings and then unfortunately just fail to get them over the line in time. Has anyone noticed that the transfer fees for the signings we actually make are always undisclosed and shrouded in mystery, but the amounts we bid for the players that we don't manage to sign are always plastered all over the press? £1.5m for Max Gradel, £650,000 for Chris O'Grady, £3m for Delort, £1.5m to £2m for Clarke-Harris.

We've got another 9 and a quarter hours of exciting rumours, prior to the announcement that Numpty Van Der Knobend has signed from Standard Liege Reserves for an undisclosed fee, with Charlton having fought off interest from Benfica and a number of Premier League clubs.

    'Numpty Van Der Knobend' Pahahahaha

As mentioned by Braydex... Rotherham wouldnt sell Clarke-Harris to us now would they!!

Despite some late-night negotiations, Charlton were unable to add to their squad before the summer jan transfer window closed on Monday evening
    Iain Liddle reports

Two deals for potential signings were still being worked on until less than an hour before the deadline, however no agreements could be reached in time.

The Addicks are one of just two sides in the Championship who remain unbeaten in the last two matches and, with the loan window opening shortly, there will be opportunities to add to the current playing squad before the next full moon

“We have made a very good start to the new season, especially considering how many new players we have in the side,” said CEO Katrien Meire.

“There were discussions over potential additions to the squad before the end of the window and we began negotiations with clubs over a couple of players.

“They have to be the right players and personalities, who we think will add to our current group and are affordable in the context of the club’s commitment to adhering to financial fair play regulations.

“We are happy with our current squad and we did not just want to bring in players because of the pressure of the looming deadline.

“Also, with a number of promising young players at the club, we are keen to aid their development and continue to show there will always be a pathway to the first team for the most talented youngsters at Charlton.

“As always, we will continue to assess the playing squad over the coming weeks and months and remain determined that we have a group capable of competing in the Championship.”

    Lots of love customers

Playing in the Stars League this season... What's that? Qatar.

Charlton Athletic have suffered a setback in their hopes to sign Rotherham United striker Jonson Clarke-Harris as The Star understands that the Millers aren’t interested in selling the player. Whilst it has been reported a bid in the region of £1.5million has been sanctioned, that isn’t believed to be the case.

Katrien: Hi, is that Rich Cawley? Got an exciting transfer story for you - Charlton have bid £1.5m for Jonson Clarke-Harris of Rotherham.

Rich Cawley: Wow, that's ambitious. So you've actually submitted a bid to Rotherham?

Katrien: Google provides two definitions for the word "story". The first is a report of an item of news in a newspaper, magazine, or broadcast, the second is an account of imaginary or real people and events told for entertainment. I'll leave you to decide which one is appropriate in this instance, now be a good boy and get tweeting.

When "lady garden" jokes are the main topic on deadline day...
    Welcome to Charlton Life.
Well, to be fair, roll up roll up welcome to Roland's Circus.
I'm sure Meire and Murray are having their own innuendo session whilst Jim White beams his gleaming grin on the plush plasma in the boardroom (on mute of course, wouldn't want any distractions now would we!).

We will sign nobody. Parkes will be home for his tea at the usual time. Meire will spend the evening optimising her LinkedIn profile.
  • Wonder if KM will go for a 3 or 5 year contract with old Fanni

I swear they're only looking at Rod Fanni because they know this forum well enough to know the deadline day thread will be filled up with crap puns and we won't notice the lack of actual transfer activity going on.

    Well played Katrien.
  • Apparently we have tried to sign highly rated Korean Fook Hall. This is the 3rd time in the last 3 transfer windows. 'Once again Charlton have tried and failed to sign Fook hall' said a Charlton spokesman.
  • It's hard to see why the player would want to leave Rotherham for Charlton today anyway. Why move from one bottom 6 team to another?

Would you turn down a move from Rotherham to the bright lights of the big city (and a house in Chislehurst)?
Well Tony Watt turned down eating in Chislehurst's finest Italian to go and play for Blackburn!

Lookman signs 4 year deal according to above. That's good news. Lookman until the end of the season at least.
  • And all the prem clubs will now know what the trigger figure is. Hopefully it's closer to 10m than 1m

Brilliant news if true. That goal at the weekend was extremely well taken for an 18 year old who has only played a handful of games and is returning from injury. He does actually appear to be genuinely talented

It would appear that the brilliantly named Rod Fanni could be on his way back to Europe, if FootMercato are to be believed.

The former Marseille defender left at the end of last season to go enjoy his remaining football years in hot and sunny and rich Qatar, with Al Arabi more precisely, but a move to the Championship could be on the cards.

According to FootMercato in their transfer deadline day live blog, their sources have told them that Charlton are in talks with the defender.

Capable of playing both at right-back and at centre-back, Fanni would provide cover for José Riga’s defence, as well as bringing a lot of experience, having played in the Champions League and the Europa League with his former clubs.

The player made 14 appearances for Al-Arabi Sports Club last year, scoring one goal in the process, while Charlton are fighting against relegation in the Championship, currently 23rd with 24 points from 29 games.

So why sign a 34 year old defender that has not played this season, when we could have had Oxford. I can only assume that west Ham insisted he played every game and Riga said no
